The Better Health 4-H Club has chosen to
honor Senior Citizens because it has perceived a definite need in our
community for youth and the older generation to interact with one another
in a positive manner. Better Health intends to actively promote this
interaction.

WHEREAS, special emphasis will be placed on the 577 Cabarrus County
residents who are confined to nursing homes and rest homes with the
following planned activities:

A musical program for all of the larger nursing homes and
some of the smaller rest homes.

A musical program for the L.I.F.E. Center and at several
housing developments for older adults.

A travelling "petting Zoo" for Senior Citizens Groups or
facilities that are interested.

Enlist other 4-H groups and youth groups in making valentines
for nursing home residents.

WHEREAS, the 4-H mOtto "To make the best better" describes one of the
most important benefits of 4-H to the youth of our community;

NOW, Therefore, I, James W. Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarrus County
Board of Commissioners, do proclaim the month of February, 1986, as:

4-H COLGATE YOUTH FOR AMERICA HONORING SENIOR CITIZENS

in the County of Cabarrus and encourage all citizens to show their
appreciation for the efforts this club is doing for the citizens of
our County.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the
seal of the County of Cabarrus to be affixed this 3rd day of February,
1986.

/s/ James W.
