546 <br /> <br /> Mr. McGinnis called the Board's attention to Agenda Report Number 2 <br />regarding the special separation allowance that was granted by the 1986 <br />General Assembly for local law enforcement officers. He noted that this <br />allowance, together with the requirement for employer contributions to the <br />401(K) plan for law enforcement officers, was contained in HB 2130 which was <br />passed in the closing days of the 1986 session. Mr. McGinnis pointed out that <br />this law is effective January 1, 1987, and will have a large impact on <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session for consul- <br />tation with legal counsel and to discuss property acquisition. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt and <br />unanimously carried, the Executive Session was terminated. <br /> Chairman Lentz reported that during the Executive Session the Board had <br />obtained legal advice from the County Attorney regarding revenue bonds and had <br />discussed property acquisition for the Coddle Creek Reservoir project. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unani- <br />mously carried, the Board agreed to enter into a contract to purchase a <br />1.0171-acre tract of land from Benjamin S. High, Jr., and wife, Carolyn S. <br />High, at a price of $2,700.00 for the Coddle Creek Reservoir Project. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />adjourned at 12:45 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
