158 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, <br />August 3, 1987, at 9:30 A.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Kenneth F. Payne <br /> William G. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Martha H. Melvin <br /> R. Giles Moss <br /> Commissioners Hamby and Melvin were absent for the beginning of the <br />meeting. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Con~nissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of July 20, 1987, were approved as written. <br /> Commissioner Melvin arrived and was present for the remainder of the <br />meeting. <br /> The Board reviewed the following bids received on July 29, 1987, for <br />ambulance equipment for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> BID TABULATION <br />AMBULANCE EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT DATE: <br />July 13, 1987 <br /> <br /> NEW TYPE III <br /> REMOUNTING OF AMBULANCE WITH <br /> BID CERT. Mabrey, Sr., Emergency Services Director, stated it would be <br />his preference to purchase the new ambulance as the existing modular box has <br />been involved in a wreck and that modifications would have to be made to the <br />box in order to accommodate dual rear wheels on the ambulance. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the new Type III ambulance <br />with trade of 1981 Ford ambulance to the low bidder, First Response, Inc., in <br />the amount of $34,821.00 and appropriated funds from Fund Balance for the <br />purchase of the new ambulance. <br /> Bids received on June 30, 1987 for the Highway 73 West Community <br />Development Project Water and Sewer Utilities were as follows: <br /> <br /> BID TABULATION <br />NC 73 WEST COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WATER & SEWER UTILITIES <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT <br /> JUNE 30, 1987 <br /> <br /> BID EEO SECTION 3 BID <br />BIDDER BOND FORM FORM AMOUNT <br /> <br />RDR 5% Yes Yes $ 246,612.00 <br />R.F. F. Shinn, <br />in the amount of $208,334.50. <br /> Mr. Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney, asked that the Board <br />rescind its action of July 20, 1987, calling for a public hearing on <br />August 17, 1987, regarding the closing of a portion of White Street and call <br />a new public hearing for the second meeting in September. <br /> <br /> <br />
