343 <br /> <br /> Sheriff Robert Canaday recommended that the Board award the contract to <br />First Assembly Food Service in the total amount of $6.91 per day. He stated <br />that this contractor had provided excellent food service to the jail during <br />the past year. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the Cabarrus County Jail Food Service <br />contract for the fiscal year 1988-89 to First Assembly Food Service as <br />follows: Breakfast $2.03, Lunch $2.40, and Dinner $2.48. <br /> The following bid was received on April 21, 1988, for constructing a <br />sedimentation basin at the Sanitary Landfill. <br /> <br />LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT DATE: <br />April 1, 1988 <br /> <br /> CONTRACTOR CERT. Pilkington, <br />Health Director, that the Board award the bid to Suther Grading & Hauling, <br />Inc. as submitted. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the construction of a <br />sedimentation basin at the Sanitary Landfill to Suther Grading & Hauling, <br />Inc. in the amount of $28,403.00. <br /> The Board reviewed the information received from Dr. Donald Hayman in <br />regards to his assisting the County Commissioners in reviewing the applica- <br />tions for the position of county manager. In his letter, Dr. Hayman <br />suggested that the County pay his out-of-pocket expense for travel and <br />telephone calls and pay half of what the Institute of Government would <br />charge for his services to the Dr. Paul W. Wager Scholarship Fund, Masters' <br />of Public Administration Program, University of North Carolina in Chapel <br />Hill. According to Dr. Hayman, the current rate charged by the Institute is <br />$250.00 per day. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board agreed to go through the procedure with Dr. <br />Donald Hayman for the screening of applicants for the position of county <br />manager. <br /> Chairman Lentz recommended that the County request that its daily water <br />supply be increased from one million gallons per day to one and one-half <br />million gallons per day.
