393 <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we the undersigned officials of Union County and Cabarrus <br />County, respectively, hereby grant to the local Emergency Management <br />Coordinators of Union County and Cabarrus County, the authority to use their <br />resources to assist one another in local natural or man-made disaster situa- <br />tions where the need arises; however, with the express understanding that the <br />local community extending such aid may withhold resources to the extent <br />necessary to provide reasonable protection for the community and that the <br />Emergency Management forces will continue under the command and control of <br />their regular leaders, but that the organizational units come under the <br />operational control of the Emergency Management authorities of the communities <br />receiving assistance, unless otherwise specified, and with the further express <br />understanding that the county extending such aid, will be provided the <br />physical needs of their volunteers and operational costs of the extent neces- <br />sary as mutually agreed upon. <br /> <br />This 18th day of May, 1988. <br />/s/ O. Owens, Planning Director, reported that three bids ranging <br />from $750.00 to $9,000.00 had been received for appraisals of the proposed <br />airport site. He stated that the Federal Aviation Administration had advised <br />him that the appraisals should cost $3,000.00 or lower. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Lentz with <br />Commissioners Hamby and Moss and Chairman Lentz voting for and Commissioners <br />Payne and Melvin voting against, the Board authorized Chairman Lentz to <br />negotiate for appraisals of the proposed airport site with a maximum cost of <br />$4,000.00. <br /> Item 10 regarding review of the proposed 1988-89 County Budget was <br />deleted from the agenda. <br /> The Board directed that specifications be drawn up for the demolition of <br />the Morris Property located on Barbrick Avenue and the building occupied by <br />Stowe's Bonding Company. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Lentz <br />recessed the meeting until 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 1988, at the General <br />Services Administration Building. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
