Fan and Stainless Steel Hood <br />1 - Deep Fat Fryer <br />1 - Gas Water Heater - 30 Gal. <br />1 - Sink and Dish Washer (Comb.) <br />1 - Stainless Steel Sink <br /> Numerous Other Items <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Moss, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board agreed to add the Flowes Store Volunteer Fire <br />Department surplus items as requested in the letter dated September 15, 1988, <br />from Mr. Hal Little to the list of property to be sold at auction and to send <br />a letter to all the volunteer fire departments stating that, in the future if <br />they wish to include surplus property in the County's auction, they may do so <br />with the stipulation they pay their prorata part of the expenses and <br />indemnify the County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board added the following persons to the local <br />emergency planning committee as recommended by Mr. B. H. Mabrey, Sr., Emer- <br />gency Services Director. <br /> <br />Scott Allen - Department of Transportation <br />Martha Melvin - Cabarrus County Commissioners <br />Van Shaw - State Bureau of Investigation <br />Linda Rhodes - Cabarrus Memorial Hospital <br />Jim Sells Concord Fire Department <br />Michael Carty - Mineral Research & Development <br />Ivey Cline - Farmers' Wholesale <br /> <br /> The following person was removed from the committee as recommended by <br />Mr. Mabrey: John Bowles - Cabarrus Memorial Hospital <br /> Chairman Lentz stated the need for a more in-depth study regarding the <br />separation of the Department of Aging and the Department of Social Services. <br />He appointed Commissioners Melvin and Moss to work with Ms. Teresa Melton, <br />Aging Director, and Mr. James F. Cook, Jr., Social Services Director, to <br />determine the services to be provided by each of the departments. A recom- <br />mendation is to be made to the Board at a later date. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the payment of $7,000.00 to Parkers <br />Crane Service, Inc., for the demolition of houses on Fisher Street and <br />appropriated $7,000.00 from the Contingency Fund to provide funds for this <br />payment. The Board further directed that a lien be executed immediately on <br />the property. <br /> Mr. Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney, reported that the <br />condemnation of the Christenbury right-of-way for the Miami Church Road water <br />line project was not necessary as Mr. Albert Christenbury had executed the <br />necessary right-of-way on September 16, 1988. <br /> <br /> <br />
