<br />1989: Midland, Crofton Subdivision, Shelton Place, Northwest Cabarrus
<br />Woods, Rollingwood Forest, English Woods/Old Farm Subdivision, Hess Road,
<br />Centergrove Road, Penninger Road, Hilton Lake Road, Lake Concord Road, Old
<br />Salisbury Road, East Crestridge Subdivision, Stallings Road, Lower Rocky
<br />River Road, Middleton Subdivision, Lakeshore Estates, Morris Glen
<br />Subdivision, Carolando Subdivision, and other smaller areas that meet the
<br />criteria for expansion.
<br /> Mr. James F. Cook, Jr., Social Services Director, introduced Ms. Lois
<br />Ray, Social Services Regional Director, who recognized the department's
<br />Income Maintenance staff for outstanding performance in the area of quality
<br />control over the past three years for the Food Stamps, Aid to Families with
<br />Dependent Children, and Medicaid Programs. She noted that the Cabarrus
<br />County Social Services Department was one of six in the State that achieved
<br />such an excellent record. On behalf of the Department of Human Resources,
<br />the Division of Medical Assistance, and the Division of Social Services, Ms.
<br />Ray presented Certificates of Award to the following employees.

<br />Food Stamp - Ms. Vickey Page, Ms. Faye McKnight, and Ms. Nell Uzzell
<br />Aid to Families with Dependent Children - Ms. Lynn Fink, Ms. Janet
<br /> Retera, and Ms. Nell Uzzell

<br /> Patricia Russell, and Ms. Nell Uzzell

<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution.
<br />
<br /> RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE CABARRUS COUNTY FIRE
<br /> MARSHAL LIAISON BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND
<br /> THE DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE, FIRE AND RESCUE
<br />SERVICE DIVISION, AND THE N. C. STATE FIREMEN'S
<br />ASSOCIATION ON MATTERS PERTAINING TO FIRE DEPARTMENTS
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, various reports are to be filed with the Department of
<br />Insurance and the State Firemen's Association to receive the full benefit of
<br />various state programs; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, G.S. 118-1.1 authorizes the governing body to designate
<br />the individual to perform any acts pursuant to Chapter 118 where there is no
<br />clerk, and the Clerk to the Board does not perform these functions and must
<br />rely upon the Fire Marshal; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Fire Marshal is the most appropriate individual on
<br />the Cabarrus County staff to perform these tasks.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
<br />Cabarrus County that the Cabarrus County Fire Marshal, is hereby designated
<br />to perform for the Clerk and otherwise any act pursuant to Chapter 118 of
<br />the North Carolina General Statutes which county governments must perform to
<br />ensure that all benefits accruing to the Cabarrus County Fire Districts are
<br />obtained; and
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be filed
<br />with the Department of Insurance to assist in the expeditious handling of
<br />these and all related administrative matters.
<br />
<br /> This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption and
<br />shall continue in effect.
<br />
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for November 21, 1988,
<br />at 7:00 P.M. or as soon thereafter as the public may be heard for the
<br />following road name changes.
