Lentz <br /> <br /> CHAIRMAN <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> Mr. Michael M. Ruffin, County Manager, presented the request from Mr. <br />Blair D. Bennett, Finance Director, that the Board reject all bids received <br />on November 14, 1988, for the furnishing of envelopes for Cabarrus County. <br />One company had submitted a personal check as a bid deposit and the other <br />company's bid had been received after the designated hour. The purchase of <br />envelopes will be handled by informal bids. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board rejected all bids for the furnishing of <br />envelopes for Cabarrus County as requested by Mr. Blair D. H. Mabrey, Sr., Emergency Services Director, recommended that the <br />low bid from First Response, Inc., in the total amount of $81,134.00 <br />including options be accepted. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the purchase of two <br />ambulances to the low bidder, First Response, Inc., at a cost of $40,567.00 <br />per unit with options for a total amount of $81,134.00. The options were as <br />follows. <br /> <br />Voltage inverter that produces a regulated 120 volts and 1000 <br />watts. Unit to be wired to outlets in the cabinet wall. An "on <br />indicator" switch is to be located in the patient compartment <br />console. <br /> <br />An option that would replace interior module lights with <br />fluorescent lights. Use 4 lights with 2 lights on each side of the <br />module on separate switches for each 2 lights. Action area light <br />should also be fluorescent. <br /> <br /> Discussion of the Coddle Creek proposal was delayed until the Executive <br />Session. <br /> Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting at 8:55 P.M. until the conclusion of <br />the meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the Water and Sewer District. <br /> Chairman Lentz reconvened the meeting at 9:00 P.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the submission of the Application <br />by the Kannapolis Board of Education requesting the release of $312,389.25 <br />from the Public School Building Capital Fund for the construction of the <br />Media Center and Administrative Office at the Shady Brook Elementary School. <br />The local match of $104,129.75 will be provided by the one-half percent Sales <br />Tax and Cabarrus County School Bonds. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following budget amendment. <br /> <br /> <br />
