As a result of the default of Walter Carter, Inc., Mr. St.
John reported that bids had been solicited from four bondable electrical
contractors for the completion of the Governmental Center. He recommended that
the County enter into a contract with R. D. Franklin Electric of Concord for the
maximum cost of $390,000.00 to complete the electrical contract. He noted that
the difference between the amount remaining to be paid on the original
electrical contract ($223,188.00) and the actual cost to complete the electrical
work is to be paid to Cabarrus County by USF&G, the bonding company for Walter
Carter, Inc.
