190 <br /> <br /> Mr. Alan Goodman of The Concord Telephone Company reviewed current <br />telephone system problems, specifically insufficient lines and lack of <br />expandability, and described the new equipment proposed for the County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Simmons and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the purchase of current telephone <br />equipment and expanded equipment from The Concord Telephone Company at a cost <br />of $64,369.97. The purchase included the following equipment. <br /> <br />In Place Equipment (currently under 60 month lease) <br /> 1 Mitel SX-200 PABX equipped for 8 two way trunks, 10 DID trunks, <br /> 2 E & M Tie trunks, and 136 stations <br /> 130 Single line touch call telephones with TAP button <br /> 2 Single line touch call telephones without TAP button <br /> 4 Single line touch call speakerphones with TAP button <br /> 4 Three line Panasonic touch call telephones <br /> <br />New Equipment Addition <br /> 1 Mitel SX-200 control cabinet equipped with Bay 1 and Bay 2. <br /> Bay 1 will not be equipped with a power supply. <br /> 1 Attendant console <br /> 1 Generic 1001 feature package <br /> 2 Universal cards (One card has 1 music/paging module, 1 console <br /> module, 1 DTMF module. One card has 2 DTMF modules.) <br /> 1 Digital superset station card (will increase system capacity from <br /> 0 to 6 superset stations) <br /> 4 Superset 4 telephones <br /> 1 Analog central office trunk card (will increase system capacity <br /> from 8 to 12 two way trunks) <br /> 1 Analog DID trunk card (will increase system capacity from 10 to <br /> 12 DID trunks) <br /> <br /> Mr. Michael M. Ruffin, .County Manager, reported that bids are being <br />solicited from local financial institutions and will be presented to the Board <br />at a later date for the award of the lease/purchase financing agreement for the <br />telephone equipment. <br /> Mr. Paul Watson, Engineer with HDR Engineering, Inc., presented an update <br />on the status of the Coddle Creek Reservoir Project and specifically the <br />preparation of the Wetlands Mitigation Plan. He reported an anticipated issuance <br />of the 404 Permit by the United States Army Corps of Engineers by April 1, 1990. <br /> Mr. Michael M. Ruffin, County Manager, commended Sheriff Robert Canaday <br />for his supervision of the Jail Addition construction project. He presented six <br />outstanding Jail Construction Change Orders and recommended approval of the <br />change orders as submitted. Mr. Ruffin further recommended the deduction of <br />$5,041.89 from the amount to be paid to the Kimball Associates, P.A., the <br />architectural firm, for mistakes which he stated in his opinion should have been <br />avoided. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Simmons and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following Jail Construction Change <br />Orders and reduced the amount to be paid to the architect, Kimball Associates, <br />P.A., by $5,041.89 [$3,130.00 (Change Order E-l) + $330.00 (General Change Order <br />No. 2) + $1,581.89 (Change Orders H-I, E-6, PE-3, and General No. 5)]. <br /> <br />General Construction - Change Order Number 2 - Cabarrus Construction <br />Co., Inc. - (1) Relocate south wall of room 106H to provide <br />adequate equipment clearance, add steel beam to carry south wall of <br />room 235A above o Add $330.00. (2) Per owner's requirements, at CMU <br />walls running north to south at rooms 205, 234, 237 and 271: (a) <br />Install reinforced ivany block at walls not yet installed - Add <br />$2,288.00; (b) Install steel rebars and pumped grout fill at walls <br />already installed Add $3,939.00. Total Addition to Contract: <br />$6,557.00. <br /> <br />Electrical Construction - Change Order E-1 - R. D. Franklin <br />Electric, Inc. (1) Required enlargement of mechanical room 106H <br />and subsequently relocating the electrical service switchboard, <br />electrical panels, automatic transfer switch, miscellaneous feeders <br />and branch circuits per drawings A-8 and E-3, revised 8.1.88 Add <br />$3,130.00. <br /> <br /> <br />
