Caswell 6214 Providence Drive, Concord <br /> <br /> Arguments in opposition to the proposed airport included the establishment <br />of water, sewer and education as priority needs, unknown total cost of the <br />airport, lack of planning, discovery of the Carolina darter which is a rare and <br />endangered species, identification of twelve archaeological areas on the <br />proposed site, impact on Grissom Village, failure to update the farmland and <br />timberland information, failure of environmental update to adhere to the Federal <br />Aviation Administration and National Environmental Protection Association <br />guidelines, detrimental effect on air quality, fear of increased taxes, and the <br />desire to allow the citizens to vote on the issue. <br /> Also, Mr. Charles Ferguson of Route 1, Box 400 Harrisburg stated neither <br />support nor opposition to the proposed airport. He recommended an economic and <br />social study of the issue. <br /> The transcript of the public hearing will be made a part of the <br />Environmental Assessment Report for the proposed Cabarrus County Airport. <br /> There being no one else present to speak regarding the proposed airport, <br />Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting at 8:55 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
