March 21, 2016 (Regular Meeting) Page 2672 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />NATIONAL DCNATE LIFE MONTH <br />WHEREAS, LifeShare Of The Carolinas is focused on saving lives by <br />increasing participation in the North Carolina organ, eye and <br />tissue donor registry; and <br />WHEREAS, April is observed as National Donate Life Month with unwavering <br />support from the nation's donation and transplantation community; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, LifeShare Of The Carolinas, the organ procurement organization <br />that serves Cabarrus County, is a part of that community and has <br />its own programs to highlight the importance of donating to save <br />the lives of others; and <br />WHEREAS, Over 3,500 North Carolina residents and 116,D00 people nationwide <br />are in need of life- saving transplants; and <br />WHEREAS, Residents of Cabarrus County have been touched by donation as <br />recipients of life- saving transplants and as members of donor <br />families who have literally given others a second chance at life; <br />and <br />NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, we, the members of the Cabarrus Board of County <br />Commissioners do hereby proclaim the month of April, 2016 to be <br />NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH <br />In Cabarrus County and urge our residents to give serious thought to the <br />importance of eye, organ and tissue donation and if so desired, to join the <br />North Carolina Donor Registry and further, to notify their family members <br />that they have done so. <br />Adopted this the 21 day of March, 2016. <br />/s/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />(C -6) Proclamation - Week of the Young Child <br />Debbie Lewallen, Chair, All Saints Early Childhood Foundation, stated <br />the All Saints Early Childhood Foundation is a group of volunteers whose <br />vision and mission is to "envision high quality and well - supported preschool <br />programs for every child living in poverty in Cabarrus County, and to build <br />partnerships within the community to advocate for and support programs for <br />preschool aged children living in poverty." She requested the Board not only <br />support the proclamation, but support the growth of early childhood education <br />in Cabarrus County. She urged the Board to make a difference by supporting <br />the proclamation. <br />Chairman Morris expressed appreciation for the Foundation's efforts and <br />read the proclamation aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Shue and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br />Proclamation No. 2016 -05 <br />WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the All Saints Early Childhood Foundation and other local <br />organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education <br />of Young Children, are celebrating the Week of the Young Child, April 10- <br />April 16, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, these organizations are working to improve early learning <br />opportunities, which are crucial to the growth and development of young <br />children, and to building better future for everyone in Cabarrus County, <br />North Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, all young children and their families across the country and <br />in Cabarrus County, North Carolina deserve access to high - quality early <br />education and care; and <br />
