March 21, 2016 (Regular Meeting) Page 2672 PROCLAMATION NATIONAL DCNATE LIFE MONTH WHEREAS, LifeShare Of The Carolinas is focused on saving lives by increasing participation in the North Carolina organ, eye and tissue donor registry; and WHEREAS, April is observed as National Donate Life Month with unwavering support from the nation's donation and transplantation community; and WHEREAS, LifeShare Of The Carolinas, the organ procurement organization that serves Cabarrus County, is a part of that community and has its own programs to highlight the importance of donating to save the lives of others; and WHEREAS, Over 3,500 North Carolina residents and 116,D00 people nationwide are in need of life- saving transplants; and WHEREAS, Residents of Cabarrus County have been touched by donation as recipients of life- saving transplants and as members of donor families who have literally given others a second chance at life; and NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, we, the members of the Cabarrus Board of County Commissioners do hereby proclaim the month of April, 2016 to be NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH In Cabarrus County and urge our residents to give serious thought to the importance of eye, organ and tissue donation and if so desired, to join the North Carolina Donor Registry and further, to notify their family members that they have done so. Morris, Chairman Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners (C -6) Proclamation - Week of the Young Child Debbie Lewallen, Chair, All Saints Early Childhood Foundation, stated the All Saints Early Childhood Foundation is a group of volunteers whose vision and mission is to "envision high quality and well - supported preschool programs for every child living in poverty in Cabarrus County, and to build partnerships within the community to advocate for and support programs for preschool aged children living in poverty." She requested the Board not only support the proclamation, but support the growth of early childhood education in Cabarrus County. She urged the Board to make a difference by supporting the proclamation. Chairman Morris expressed appreciation for the Foundation's efforts and read the proclamation aloud. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Poole, seconded by Commissioner Shue and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. Proclamation No. 2016 -05 WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the All Saints Early Childhood Foundation and other local organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, are celebrating the Week of the Young Child, April 10- April 16, 2016; and WHEREAS, these organizations are working to improve early learning opportunities, which are crucial to the growth and development of young children, and to building better future for everyone in Cabarrus County, North Carolina; and WHEREAS, all young children and their families across the country and in Cabarrus County, North Carolina deserve access to high - quality early education and care; and
