March 21, 2016 (Regular Meeting) Page 2673 <br />WHEREAS, in recognizing and supporting the people, programs and <br />policies that are committed to high - quality early childhood education as the <br />right choice for kids; <br />WE, the County Commissioners of Cabarrus County, North Carolina do <br />hereby proclaim April 10 -16, 2016, as the <br />"Week of the Young Child" <br />in Cabarrus County and encourage all citizens to work to make a good <br />investment in early childhood in Cabarrus County. <br />Adopted this the 21 day of March, 2016. <br />/s/ Stephen M. Robinson High School boys' <br />basketball team, the Bulldogs, for winning the 2016 NCHSAA (North Carolina <br />High School Athletic Association) 3A State Championship title. He stated the <br />City of Concord held a parade earlier in the afternoon honoring the team. <br />Chairman Morris read the proclamation aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation. <br />Proclamation No. 2016 -06 <br />BULLDOG DAY PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the Jay M. Robinson High School boys basketball team, the <br />Bulldogs, brought home the 2016 nCHSAA 3A State Championship on March 12; and <br />WHEREAS, the State Championship was the first opportunity for the <br />Bulldogs to compete for a state title, a title they now proudly hold; and <br />WHEREAS, the Bulldogs led the competition at the State Championship, <br />and also finished their season with a 29 -3 record that included a 19 -game <br />winning streak; and <br />WHEREAS, the Bulldogs and their victory demonstrates and reminds us of <br />the satisfaction and reward of practice, hard work and determination; and <br />WHEREAS, the Bulldogs represented Cabarrus County, Cabarrus County <br />Schools and Jay M. Robinson High School on their journey for the state title <br />distinction, and in so doing, displayed the level of excellence that Cabarrus <br />County is known for to others across North Carolina; <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Caharrus County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim March 21, 2016, as <br />"Bulldog Day" <br />in Cabarrus County and encourage all citizens to join us in celebrating <br />and congratulating the Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs, Coach Lavar Batts, Sr., <br />staff members and players who each contributed towards the 2016 NCHSAA 3A <br />State Championship win.
