Megan Smit <br />Clerk to the Board <br />(F -9) DHS - Transportation System Safety Plan <br />The System Safety Program Plan is an effort to promote safe public <br />transportation services such that each rural transit system in the state that <br />receives federal and /or state funds has an approved System Safety Program Plan. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Transportation System Safety <br />Plan. <br />(F -10) IAM - Transfer of Surplus Vehicle to Odell Volunteer Fire and Rescue <br />Department <br />The Odell Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department has requested two surplus <br />vehicles from Cabarrus County for daily operations in providing services to the <br />citizens within the fire district. The vehicles requested for transfer are two <br />Ford Crown Vic cars that were scheduled for surplus at the end of the month. <br />The Infrastructure and Asset Management and Finance departments have both <br />reviewed the request and two vehicles are available for surplus transfer to the <br />Odell Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department per NCGS 153A -176, 16OA -274 and 160A- <br />280. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board declared two vehicles surplus property and <br />authorized disposition in accordance with the County policy. <br />(F -11) IAM - Transfer of Surplus Vehicle to Georgeville Volunteer Fire <br />Department <br />The Georgeville Volunteer Fire Department has requested a surplus vehicle <br />from Cabarrus County to replace their surplus truck that was totaled in an <br />accident last year. The vehicle requested for transfer is a 2001 Ford F150 4x4 <br />(Asset # 1805, VIN# 1FTRX18W11NA1832) that was scheduled for surplus at the end <br />of the month. The Infrastructure and Asset Management and Finance departments <br />have both reviewed the request and the vehicle is available for surplus transfer <br />to the Georgeville Volunteer Fire Department per NCGS 153A -176, 16OA --274 and <br />160A -280. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mynatt, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board declared 2001 Ford F150 4x4 (Asset # 1805, <br />VIN# 1FTRX18wllNA1832) surplus property and authorized disposition in <br />accordance with the County policy. <br />(F -12) Planning and Development (Soil and Water) - Urban Agriculture <br />Conservation Initiative Grant Proposal <br />The Soil and water Conservation District intends to submit a proposal to <br />the National Association of Conservation Districts for a grant of up to <br />$50,000.00. The funding is intended to accelerate conservation planning focused <br />on underserved populations and urban agriculture. The majority of this funding <br />would be budgeted for support staff, including consultants and contractors. <br />The project funding period is August 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017. while a <br />financial or in -kind grant match is not required, additional funding may be <br />requested from the County's Trust Fund Supporting Local Food Economy. <br />Partnerships with local, regional and state agencies and organizations will <br />advance conservation on urban agricultural projects, including public and <br />private gardens and farms. These partnerships are key to the long --term <br />sustainability of this proposed project beyond the one -year funding period. <br />Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District has been a leader in the <br />state on community conservation. This grant proposal complements the grant- - <br />funded Green Growth Pilot Project that is underway with District leadership. <br />The District holds an agricultural conservation easement on a 20 -acre urban <br />farmstead where conservation can be demonstrated to groups and also owns a 35- <br />acre conservation field school. <br />
