One item reviewed was the Drug -Free <br />Workplace Policy. The audit made several recommendations for modifications to <br />the policy. <br />Specific changes include: Definitions were added for County permitted <br />operators (drivers), DOT drivers and DOT versus non -DOT safety sensitive <br />drivers. In conjunction with Safety and Risk Management, Human Resources <br />reviewed post - accident procedures for compliance with new OSHA (Occupational <br />Safety and Health Administration) regulations, guidance changing from mandatory <br />testing to discretional testing based on probable cause of accident, specified <br />split sample testing at the applicant or employee's expense, and updated <br />Employee Assistance Program contact information. It is the policy of Cabarrus County that the workplace shall be free of the <br />presence of alcoholic beverages or unlawful controlled substances and that <br />employees shall perform their job assignments safely, efficiently, and <br />without the adverse influence of alcohol or controlled substances. This <br />policy shall govern all County employees. Specific requirements for DOT <br />covered employees are set out in the Appendix. <br />
