December 19, 2016 (Regular Meeting) Page 2999 (1-7) Request for Applications for County Boards/Committees Applications are being accepted for the following County Boards/Committees: • Active Living and Parks Commission - 1 Term Expiring • Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee - 7 Vacant Positions Agricultural Advisory Board - 3 Terms Expiring Soon • Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) - 1 Vacant Position • Home and Community Care Block Grant Committee - 6 Terms Expiring Soon • Human Services Advisory Board - 3 Terms Expiring Soon • Juvenile Crime Prevention Council - 3 Vacant Positions (Student Under 18 and Chief District Court Judge/Designee) • Mt. Pleasant Planning Board and Board of Adjustment - 1 Vacant Position (Alternate) • Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee - 6 Vacant Positions • Senior Centers Advisory Council - 5 Terms Expiring Soon • Transportation Advisory Board - 2 Vacant Positions (Midland and Clergy) • Watershed Improvement Commission - 1 Term Expiring Soon • Youth Commission - 6 Vacant Positions Chairman Morris reviewed the aforementioned list and urged citizens to consider participating on a Board or Committee. (J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS Commissioner Grace Mynatt announced her resignation, effective immediately. She reflected on her years of public service and graciously thanked fellow board members and the citizens of Cabarrus County for their support. Chairman Morris expressed appreciation for Commissioner Mynatt' s service. He then reviewed NCGS 153A-27 in regards to filling a vacancy on the Board of Commissioners. He provided contact information for anyone interested in the vacant position and called for a special meeting for Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1: 00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room in the Governmental Center to either fill the vacancy on the Board of Commissioners or to discuss a process to fill the vacancy, pursuant to NCGS 153A-27. Vice Chairman Honeycutt expressed appreciation to Commissioner Mynatt and wished her well. (K) WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY None. (L) CLOSED SESSION (L-1) Closed Session - Pending Litigation UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Shue and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into closed session to discuss matters related to pending litigation as authorized by NCGS 143-318. 11 (a) (3) . Commissioner Poole exited the meeting. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Shue, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt and unanimously carried, the Board moved to come out of closed session.
