Morris, Chairman <br /> ATTEST: <br /> /s/ Megan Smit <br /> Clerk to the Board <br /> (F-7) Human Resources - Health Plan Renewal for Budget Year 2018 <br /> At the work session, Human Resources staff and the County Manager/Senior <br /> Deputy reviewed the health plan renewal quote and recommendations for policy <br /> and plan design changes intended to lower the cost of the health plan renewal <br /> for the County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board adopted proposals for the FY18 health plan <br /> renewal and provide education to County employees. <br /> (F-8) Infrastructure and Asset Management - Transfer of Surplus Vehicles to <br /> Midland Fire and Rescue <br /> Midland Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. has requested two surplus vehicles <br /> from Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office for their chief officers and <br /> administrative staff to take on errands, community outreach, public relations <br /> and training trips. The County will have several Sheriff's Office cars up for <br /> surplus by the end of March or early April. County Fleet Maintenance staff has <br /> not identified the exact two cars that could be transferred but they have <br /> confirmed there will be vehicles available for surplus. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board declared two Sheriff's Office cars surplus <br /> property and authorized disposition in accordance with the County' s policy. <br /> (F-9) ITS - Storage Area Network Refresh Lease Agreement <br /> Cabarrus County's current Storage Area Network lease is expiring. <br /> Attached is a quote for a new 36-month lease totaling $307 .429.00, $8, 179. 00 <br /> per month. This lease provides for a complete refresh of the current storage <br /> hardware at an operating expense equivalent to our current expense. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Lease Agreement between Cabarrus <br /> County and Winthrop for the Compellent Storage Area Network and authorized the <br /> County Manager to execute the Agreement on behalf of Cabarrus County, subject <br /> to review or revisions by the County Attorney. <br /> (F-10) Register of Deeds - Refund of Excise Stamps <br /> Purser and Glenn, PLLC recorded a Special Warranty Deed, Instrument# 24481 <br /> and paid a revenue stamp fee of $954 .00. Subsequently, Purser and Glenn recorded <br /> an affidavit of error affirming said fee should have been $594.00 by instrument <br /> #02950. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Kiger, seconded by Vice Chairman Honeycutt <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board approved the refund of the excise stamp fee <br /> in the amount of $360.00. <br /> (F-11) Sheriff's Office - Request to Add a Full-Time Kennel Technician Position <br /> at the Animal Shelter <br /> The Sheriff's Office took over the Animal Shelter in February of 2016. At <br /> that time, the thought was only a part-time (4 hours per day) employee would be <br /> needed to take care of cleaning, feeding and medicating the cats and kittens in <br /> the shelter. Now faced with an overwhelming number of cats and kittens, 30-50 <br /> are taken into the shelter each week. Along with the normal duties of cleaning, <br /> feeding and medicating, these new cats need to be evaluated, screened for a <br /> microchip, vaccinated and photographed within the first week of arrival at the <br /> shelter. <br /> Other staff at the shelter have tried to help, but with their other duties <br /> it is difficult to make sure each cat or kitten has gone through the proper <br /> screening to help prevent disease in the shelter. The new Kennel Technician <br /> will be responsible for all aspects involved with the care of cats at the <br /> shelter: morning and afternoon cleanings, and feedings and medications. The <br /> position will also be responsible for intake of cats throughout the afternoon, <br /> including initial evaluation, microchip scanning, vaccinating, photographing, <br /> help with placement of cats and all the paperwork required for each cat and <br /> kitten in the shelter.
