May 25, 2017 (Budget Meeting) Page 3170 <br /> Mike Legg, Kannapolis City Manager, reported the Kannapolis Fire <br /> Department is requesting a tax increase for the rural areas to equal the tax <br /> rate within the city limits. He advised the increase would occur in a step <br /> process over the next three years. <br /> Clyde "Ernie" Hiers, Kannapolis Fire Chief, presented a PowerPoint <br /> presentation that included the following topics: <br /> ► Kannapolis Rural Fire District <br /> ► County tax district rates <br /> ► Fire department operational budget <br /> ► Calls for service - Kannapolis Rural <br /> ► Proposal for Kannapolis Rural <br /> General Board Discussion (Continued) <br /> Mike Downs, County Manager, reviewed items requiring additional <br /> information. He advised information regarding the school nurse at the Mary <br /> Frances Wall Center will be emailed to the Board. He advised the Board of the <br /> availability of staff to answer questions or review additional information as <br /> needed.
