Following the financing review, Ms. Dubois reviewed the <br />current status of the following projects: <br />Current School Projects: <br />Mt. Pleasant Middle School Replacement <br />Royal Oaks Elementary School Replacement <br />New Kannapolis Middle School <br />Current Community College Projects: <br />New Technology Building <br />Land Purchase <br />Phase II of Technology Building <br />Current Cabarrus County Projects: <br />Parking Deck <br />Robert Wallace Park Phase 1 <br />Warehouse Facility for County /Schools /Sheriff <br />Courthouse Expansicn /Replacement <br />Senior Center - Kannapolis <br />Current Status <br />Completing Design Phase <br />Needs A/E Funding to Design <br />Selected an Architect <br />Needs A/E Funding <br />Planning Phase <br />Planning Phase <br />Design Phase <br />Site Selection <br />Planning Phase <br />Planning Phase <br />Ms. Dubois requested direction from the Board regarding the funding <br />strategy she reviewed, stating she'd like to know if the Board supports the <br />funding strategy and wants staff to apply the funding strategy to projects <br />coming in the future. <br />A brief discussion ensued. During discussion, Ms. Dubois and Mike <br />Downs, County Manager, responded to a variety of questions from the Board. <br />Vice Chairman Poole voiced support for the funding strategy as presented. <br />Commissioner Mynatt expressed concern over the projected cost of the <br />Mt. Pleasant Middle School replacement. <br />A brief discussion ensued. During discussion, Ms. Dubois, Mike Downs, <br />County Manager, and Jonathan Marshall, Deputy County Manager, responded to a <br />variety of questions from the Board. <br />Commissioner Honeycutt expressed support for the funding strategy. <br />Commissioner Shue expressed support for the funding strategy and added <br />his support for funding County staff and teacher salaries as well as <br />provision for staff and teacher retention and training. <br />Chairman Morris also voiced support for the funding strategy. <br />
