May 26, 2015 (Budget Meeting) Page 2412 <br />and Tourism Development Tax, 'Tourism Authority of the Cabarrus County Code of <br />Ordinances. <br />EDC - Presentation of FY 2016 Budget Request <br />Patrick Coughlin, President and CEO, EDC, presented a PowerPoint <br />presentation overview of the EDC's FY 2016 budget request. Brochures of the <br />EDC's marketing and communications plan brochure were distributed to the <br />Board. Samantha Crass, Project Manager, and LeeAnn Nixon, Existing Industry <br />Specialist, were also present. <br />The presentation included the following information: <br />• Site Preparedness <br />• Business Retention and Expansion <br />• Recruitment <br />+ Request for Information (RFI) Stats July 2014- Present <br />• RFI Projects by Type July 2014- Present <br />• RFI Projects by Source July 2014- Present <br />RFI International Projects July 2014- Present <br />• RFI Current Active Project: 16 <br />• EDC Expansion /New Project Investment 2014- Present <br />• Investment in Surrounding Counties <br />+ Budget Information <br />Following the presentation, a discussion ensued. Topics addressed <br />included: updating the EDC policy; potential industries for recruitment to <br />the County; entrepreneurship and youth involvement; the NC Manufacturing <br />Institute certification course at RCCC; the need for more spec buildings; <br />etc. <br />Vice Chairman Poole requested an electronic copy of the marketing plan. <br />She invited the EDC to visit the high schools. She advised internships for <br />junior and senior high school students are needed. <br />RCCC - Presentation of FY 2016 Budget Request <br />Cyndie Mynatt, Vice Chair, Rowan - Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) <br />Board of Trustees, presented an overview of RCCC activities, trends and <br />growth.
