January 21, 2014 (Regular Meeting) Page 1885 <br />(I -3) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees <br />Commissioner Morris updated the Board on his participation on the <br />Library Board of Trustees and highlighted upcoming Library events. <br />Chairman Poole advised she would be attending the Metropolitan Planning <br />Organization (MPO) meeting the next day, where the Exit 49 Project would be <br />under further discussion. <br />(I -4) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards /Committees: <br />• Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee - 5 Vacancies <br />* Agricultural Advisory Board - 3 Position with Expiring Terms <br />• Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions Community Oversight Board <br />- 1 Vacant Position <br />• Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) - 1 Vacant Position <br />• Council for a Sustainable Local Economy - 10 Positions with Expiring <br />Terms <br />• Food Policy Council - 3 Vacant Positions <br />• Home and Community Care Block Grant Committee - 1 Vacant Position <br />and 2 Positions with Expired Terms <br />• Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority - 1 <br />Expired Term and 2 Vacant Positions <br />• Juvenile Crime Prevention Council - 2 Vacant Positions <br />• Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee - 6 Vacant Positions <br />• Transportation Advisory Board - 1 Position with Expired Term and 4 <br />Vacant Positions <br />Youth Council - 6 Vacant Positions <br />Chairman Poole reviewed the aforementioned list and urged citizens to <br />consider participating on a Board or Committee. <br />(I -5) Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) - One -Time Fundinq Update <br />The Board received the Cabarrus County Schools One -Time Funding Update <br />Report for informational purposes as part of the Agenda. No action was <br />required of the Board. <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Morris updated the Board on his recent visit to S &D Coffee <br />and announced S &D Coffee will soon be offering a new product, "Milk Splash ". <br />Commissioner Oesterreich stated he would like information regarding the <br />joint Board of Commissioners and Cabarrus County Schools' Board of Education <br />meeting provided to the public in advance. <br />Chairman Poole advised of the upcoming retreat on Friday, January 24, <br />beginning at 4.00 p.m. The retreat will continue on Saturday, January 25 <br />from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. She further advised the Board would recess from <br />the retreat to the joint Board of Commissioners /Cabarrus County Schools Board <br />of Education meeting, to be held on Thursday, January 30 at 4:00 p.m. in the <br />Multipurpose Room. <br />WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br />A closed session was not needed. <br />(M) RECESS <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Burrage, seconded by Commissioner Measmer, <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting recessed at 7:28 p.m. to Friday, January <br />24, 2014 at 4 :00 p.m. <br />1 1 9� &,__h <br />Mega Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />
