<br />Refrigeration Lab (with major donations of equipment from area industries) and Supporting'. spaces as wed as an upgrade for
<br />mass notification capabilities and other renovations for enhanced programs.

<br />A discussion ensued. Dr. Spalding and Carl Short, Jr., RCCC Board of
<br />Trustees Chairman, responded to questions from the Board. Janet ,Spriggs,
<br />RCCC Chief Financial Officer, was also in attendance.
<br />Kannapolis City Schools
<br />Chairman Poole announced Danita Rickard, KCS Board of Education Vice
<br />Chair, was unable to be at the meeting due to attendance at a funeral.
<br />Todd Adams, KCS Board of Education Chair; Dr. Chip Buckwell, KCS
<br />Assistant Superintendent and Will Crabtree, KCS Director of Business
<br />Operations, presented requests for a new middle school, capital projects and
<br />a 1.5 percent pay increase. Dr. Pamela Cain, KCS Superintendent, was out of
<br />town and unable to attend.

<br />A lengthy discussion ensued regarding requests from Cabarrus County
<br />Schools. During discussion, Dr. Barry Shepherd, CCS (Cabarrus County
<br />Schools) Superintendent; Blake Kiger, CCS Board of Education Chair; Kelly
<br />Kluttz, CCS Finance Director; and Len Witke, CCS Facilities Management
<br />Executive Director, responded to a variety cf questions from the Board.
<br />Issues addressed included: conditions of existing school facilities, school
<br />capacity, school employee salaries, a bond referendum, etc.
