<br />Funding Need
<br />The following information relating to a request from the Cabarrus
<br />County Schools Board of Education was reviewed:
<br />The Cabarrus County School Board has submitted a Resolution
<br />requesting funding in the amount of $20,000,000 for the
<br />construction of a new elementary school in Northwest Cabarrus
<br />County.

<br />Commissioner Cesterreich MOVED to fund the construction of the new
<br />northwest elementary school in the amount of $16,000,000.00, stating if the
<br />funds proved to be insufficient for the project, the request for additional
<br />funds could be brought before the Board at that time.
<br />By the same motion, he MOVED to fund the construction of Mount Pleasant
<br />Middle School in the amount of $15,500,00.00, stating if the funds proved to
<br />be insufficient for the project, the request for additional funds could be
<br />brought before the Board at that time. Vice Chairman Burrage stated he would
<br />second the motion contingent on available funds.
<br />A discussion ensued. During discussion the following topics were
<br />addressed: depletion of available funds; contingency funds; etc.
<br />Chairman Poole reminded that there is a motion on the table. Vice
<br />Chairman Burrage seconded the motion.
