February 3, 2014 (Work Session) page 1913 <br />Communications and Outreach - Continued Discussion on 2014 Community Survey <br />Kasia Thompson, Communications and Outreach Manager, advised the <br />Communications and Outreach Department has contracted with ETC Institute to <br />administer the 2014 Community Survey in February. The Community Survey was <br />last administered in the fall of 2010. She stated the survey will measure <br />the views of at least 40C Cabarrus residents. It includes questions on <br />overall service ratings, library services, election services, communication <br />services, public transportation, active living and parks, emergency services, <br />customer service and community issues. She also reviewed a draft community <br />survey and responded to questions from the Board. <br />Commissioner Oesterreich requested a question related to debt be added <br />to the survey. <br />A discussion ensued regarding language to be included in survey <br />questions. <br />Planning and Development - Food Policy Council 2014 Annual Retreat Review <br />Aaron Newton, Local Food System Program Coordinator and Erin Bayer, <br />Food Policy Council, Outreach Marketing Economic Development Chair, presented <br />a summary of the Food Policy Council's 2014 Retreat held on January 23, 2014. <br />Items addressed included the following priority areas: local foods in <br />schools, long -term food security, planning for hunger relief, and looking at <br />incentives for local businesses to support the locally grown campaign. <br />Discussion Items for Action at February 17. 2014 Meetin <br />Chairman Poole requested the Cabarrus County School items be moved up <br />to accommodate school staff due to the Cabarrus County School's Board of <br />Education meeting later this afternoon. <br />Cabarrus County Schools - School Resource Officers <br />Kelly Kluttz, Cabarrus County Schools Finance Director, presented the <br />following information relating to a request for a Cabarrus County Schools <br />(CCS) School Resource Officer Grant: <br />Cabarrus County Schools <br />School Resource Officer Grant <br />State grant award CCS BOE Funds Total <br />Round 1 & 2 (9 officers 6 $53,333) $358 $130,000 $498,000 <br />73.90% 26.10% 100.00% <br />Officers <br />Cabarrus County Deputies 3 <br />City of Concord Police Officers 4 <br />Ms. Kluttz advised the grant will provide funds for salaries. She <br />stated the county would be responsible for staff development and vehicles. <br />A discussion ensued. During discussion, Ms. Kluttz, Chief Deputy Paul <br />Hunt, Dr. Chris Lowder, CCS Assistant Superintendent of Admin Services and <br />Len Witke, CCS, responded to a variety of questions from the Board. <br />Chairman Poole requested the item be placed on New Business. <br />Cabarrus County Schools - Request for Royal Oaks Elementary School Roof <br />Project <br />Kelly Kluttz, Cabarrus County Schools Finance Director, presented the <br />following information relating to a request for the Royal Oaks Elementary <br />School Roof Project: <br />i�����ii•ii <br />
