June 2, 2014 (Work Session) page 2059 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met for an Agenda <br />Work Session in the Multipurpose Room at the Cabarrus County Governmental <br />Center in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. <br />Present - Chairman: <br />Vice Chairman: <br />Commissioners: <br />Elizabeth F. Poole <br />Larry M. Burrage <br />Christopher A. Measmer <br />Stephen M. Morris <br />Jason A. Oesterreich <br />Also present were Mike Downs, County Manager; Richard M. Koch, County <br />Attorney; Jonathan Marshall, Deputy County Manager; Pam Dubois, Deputy County <br />Manager; and Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board. <br />Call to Order <br />Chairman Poole called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Chairman Poole presented the following changes to the Agenda: <br />Supplemental Information - Discussion Items - No Action <br />3 -1 Communications and Outreach - Presentation of 2014 Community Survey <br />Results <br />+ Presentation <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Morris, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda as amended. <br />Discussion Items - No Action <br />Communications and Outreach - Presentation of 2014 Community Survey Results <br />Kasia Thompson, Communications and Outreach Manager, advised the <br />Communications and Outreach Department contracted with ETC Institute to <br />administer the 2014 Community Survey. <br />Christopher Tathum, ETC Institute, CEO, presented a PowerPoint <br />presentation of the 2014 Community Survey Findings Report for Cabarrus <br />County. He stated he will share how Cabarrus County's results have changed <br />over the past couple of years, will give feedback about what county residents <br />currently think and insight into trends and how Cabarrus County compares to <br />the rest of the country. He said the survey is designed to give an objective <br />assessment for what residents think. He and Ms. Thompson also responded to <br />questions from the Board. <br />The report titled Cabarrus County 2014 Community Survey Findings" <br />included the following topics: <br />o Agenda <br />o Purpose <br />o Methodology <br />o Location of Survey Respondents <br />o Bottom Line Up Front <br />o Major Finding #1 - Residents Have a Positive Perception of the <br />County <br />o Major Finding #2 - Overall Satisfaction is High in ALL Areas of <br />the County <br />o Major Finding 43 - Satisfaction with county services is <br />significantly higher in Cabarrus County than other communities <br />o Major Finding #4 - Since 2008, Overall Satisfaction Has Increased <br />in Most Areas that Were Assessed on the Survey <br />o Major Finding #5 - Highest priorities for Residents <br />o Customer Service Ratings <br />o Communication Issues <br />• Other Findings <br />• Summary and Conclusions <br />Ms. Thompson stated the updated report would be distributed later and <br />posted on the website under Hot Topics. <br />Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus Count - Annual Partnershi <br />Update <br />
