September 15, 2014 (Regular Meeting) Page 2171 <br />(I -6) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards /Committees: <br />+ Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee - 6 Vacant Positions <br />+ Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) - 1 Vacant Position <br />• Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority - 1 <br />Expired Term and 2 Vacant Positions <br />• Juvenile Crime Prevention Council - S Vacant Positions <br />+ Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee - 6 Vacant Positions <br />• Transportation Advisory Board - 7 Vacant Positions <br />• Youth Council - 7 Vacant Positions <br />Chairman Poole reviewed the aforementioned list and urged citizens to <br />consider participating on a Board or Committee. <br />(J) GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Morris provided a brief update on recent numbers reported <br />at the Library Board of Trustees meeting and commended the Literacy Council's <br />Buzzword Spelling Bee event. He also commented on the resignations of library <br />staff members. <br />Commissioner Oesterreich responded to Commissioner Morris, commenting <br />on the libraries and library staff, specifically regarding the period of time <br />around the spring primary. <br />Vice Chairman Burrage announced the Fred Eudy Fish Fry will be held on <br />October 4th at 4:00 p.m. on Smith Lake Road to benefit the Mount Pleasant <br />Food Bank. <br />Chairman Poole commended Chief Deputy Paul Hunt and County Attorney <br />Richard Koch for their demonstrated spelling skills at the Buzzword Spelling <br />Bee. She also commended Fair Manager Kate Sharpe, the Fair Board, Fair <br />volunteers, Frank Laps-ley and the Arena staff for their efforts during the <br />Fair. <br />(D) (ADDITIONAL) INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Bishop Roland Jordan, resident of 134 Lore Street SW in Concord, <br />expressed opposition to taxing non - profit organizations, specifically <br />churches. <br />WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />None. <br />(L) CLOSED SESSION <br />(L -1) Closed Session - Economic Development <br />Note: The closed session was removed from the Agenda. <br />(M) ADJOURN <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Burrage, seconded by Commissioner Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m. <br />( <br />Megan STVt, erk to the Board <br />
