Poole, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />IsI Megan Smit <br />Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board <br />(D) INFORMAL COI <br />Chairman Poole opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 7:53 <br />p.m. She stated each speaker would be limited to three minutes. <br />Lydia Banther, resident of 129 Wayne Avenue in Kannapolis, spoke in <br />support of the Rowan- Cabarrus Community College bonds on the November <br />election ballot. <br />Bill Jermyn, resident of 2130 Hwy 73 East in Concord, spoke in regards <br />to the Code of Ordinances as it relates to a turkey shoot in his <br />neighborhood. He stated the ordinance is too vague for a clear <br />understanding. He requested, until a new revised ordinance can be adopted, <br />an immediate amendment to the Code of Ordinances be adopted to restrict the <br />discharge of any firearm within 500 yards of any residence unless it falls <br />under the act of hunting game as defined by the North Carolina Wildlife <br />Resources Commission. <br />Londa Strong, Active Living and Parks Director, spoke in regards to the <br />County's charitable committee, Chi and their participation in Lamar's Coats <br />for Children, partnered with the Junior Charity League. She also recognized <br />Ch3 Directors Anita Tucker, Heather Starnes and Tiffany Settles, in <br />attendance. <br />Lamar Barrier, Concord City Councilman, stated he initiated this <br />charity, Lamar's Coats for Children, last year after seeing children get out <br />of cars without coats on in 30 degree weather. He stated his charity <br />partnered with the Junior Charity League in this endeavor. He recognized Ch3 <br />for the collection of over 75 coats and expressed appreciation to Cabarrus <br />County employees for their participation in the Ch3 charity drive to collect <br />coats for needy children. <br />With there being no one else to address the Board, Chairman Poole <br />closed that portion of the meeting. <br />10TOMMMllij-l* 410* 3. <br />(F) CONSENT <br />(F -1) Finance - Update of the Construction and Renovation Fund Budget <br />Project Ordinance and Related Budget Amendment <br />Note: This item was moved to November. <br />(F -2) Sheriff's Office - Award Bid to Hilbish Motor Company for Six Ford <br />Sedan Police Interceptor Vehicles and Four Ford Utility Police Interceptor <br />Vehicles <br />The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office budgeted $270,000.00 for ten (10) <br />police vehicles for FY 2015. A RFB (Request for Bids) was advertised for a <br />Ford Sedan Police Interceptor Vehicle and a Ford Utility Police Vehicle. <br />The bid from Hilbish Motor Company in Kannapolis, NC was $24,175.00 for <br />the sedan and $26,605.00 for the utility. One other bid came in from <br />Cloninger Ford in Hickory, NC and their amounts were $24,460.01 for the sedan <br />and $26,740.01 for the utility. The Sheriff's Office would like to use the <br />bid from Hilbish Ford and purchase six (6) sedans at a cost of $145,050.00 <br />and four (4 ) utility vehicles at a cost of $106,420.00. The total cost for <br />the ten (10) vehicles would be $251,470.00 <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Burrage, seconded by Commissioner Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the bid award with Hilbish Motor <br />Company and authorized the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office to purchase six <br />
