He advised the
attraction will benefit surrounding businesses as well. He also stated it
would be better to have the attraction in Cabarrus County rather than lose
the business to a neighboring county.
Vice Chairman White MOVED to approve an Industrial Development
Incentive Grant Agreement (6 years, 850) between Simon Properties and
Cabarrus County; and to authorize the County Manager to execute the Agreement
on behalf of the Board, subject to review and /or revisions by the County
Attorney. Commissioner Morris seconded the motion.
A discussion ensued.
As a reminder for the audience, Chairman Poole advised that businesses
offered incentive grants must first pay all taxes as well as meet specific
conditions outlined in the grant agreement, after which the 85% is rebated
back to the company. In this case, she stated they are required to invest in
the new facility for the investment amount in the agreement and fully operate
the facility for a minimum of 10 years. She expressed approval of the grant
stating it will benefit the surrounding area by providing a fresh attraction.
The MOTION carried with Chairman Poole, Vice Chairman White and
Commissioner Morris voting for and Commissioners Burrage and Measmer voting
against.
(G - Planning and Development - Text Amendment: TEXT2012- 0003 - Amendment to
Chapter 15 of the Zoning Ordinance - Public Hearing - 6:30 P.M.
Fna
Perran,
Gr LI-
Pi o_1 Lrcl
89OC.WG EdWle rah .,an
Ba.l T+uau ly
3afA,0W
CwKV
0.0970
5537]5.
137268
6t.
