February 2, 2013 (Board Retreat)', Page 1404 <br />Employee Health Center and Wellness <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, advised although $2 million in increased <br />costs were avoided due to changes in the employee health plan last year, <br />there was still an increase in ',submitted claims due to employees conducting <br />procedures prior to the health plan transition. He stated although <br />healthcare is expected to increase each year, the county is attempting to <br />keep costs as low as possible with proposed changes to the health plan. <br />Johanna Ray, Health and Wellness Manager, provided a PowerPoint <br />presentation overview of the Cabarrus County Wellness for Life Program and <br />the Cabarrus County Employee Health Center. During the presentation she also <br />responded to a variety of questions from the Board. Her overview included <br />the following information: <br />• What is Wellness for Life? <br />• Program Goals <br />• Wellness Programs <br />• Employee Survey Results <br />• Positive Changes by Employees <br />• Employee Health Center <br />• Positive Benefits from the EHC <br />• What Makes the EHC Successful? <br />• Moving Forward <br />Following a brief exercise routine led by Ms. Ray, the Board took a <br />short break at 11:46 a.m. The meeting resumed at 11:50 a.m. <br />Succession Planning <br />Lundee Covington, Human 'Resources Director, reviewed a PowerPoint <br />presentation on proposed steps for Succession Planning. The report included <br />the following information: <br />o Why Succession Planning? <br />® Objectives <br />0 Success Planning Process <br />® Data Collection <br />® Pending Retirements Announced <br />® 5 Years - Service Based <br />a 5 Years - Age Based <br />m 10 Years - Service Based <br />0 Law Enforcement '.. <br />® Identify Key Positions & Timelines <br />® Candidate Identification & Development Planning <br />® Education Resources <br />® Applicability to County Departments <br />0 Preparing for the Future <br />There was discussion throughout the presentation with Ms. Covington and <br />County Manager Mike Downs responding to a variety of questions from the <br />Board. <br />Lunch Break <br />Lunch was served at 12:21 p.m. The meeting resumed at 1:09 p.m. <br />One -Time Projects <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, stated $3,232,650.00 of funds for one -time <br />projects has been spent with a balance of $767,350.00 remaining. <br />General discussion followed regarding the listed pending projects: <br />Pending Projects for Future Date <br />Cabarrus County EMS co-station in Concord Mills Area 375,000 <br />Cabarrus County Senior Center up fit /expansion 390,000 <br />Cabarrus County Multi - purpose Athletic Field Complex 2,012,350 <br />Cabarrus County overflow parking 150,000 <br />Cabarrus County Mobile Computer Terminals & Tablets (26) 37,003 (new) <br />Cabarrus County Schools <br />Carl A.
