I <br />also want to express my appreciation to the Board of <br />Commissioners for their support and leadership during the budget <br />process and throughout the year. <br />Mr. Downs announced the Board received the FY 2014 budget on <br />flash /thumb drives this evening. <br />Chairman Poole announced the proposed FY 2014 budget will be filed in <br />the office of the Clerk to the Board at the Cabarrus County Governmental <br />Center during regular business hours. The 2014 preliminary budget will also <br />be posted on the County's website at www.cabarruscounty.us Budget meetings <br />will be held May 28, 29, and 30, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room <br />at the Governmental Center and the meetings are open to the public. She also <br />stated there will be presentations from any entities and departments funded <br />by Cabarrus County and a public hearing will be held for the proposed budget <br />on June 17th. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Burrage, seconded by Commissioner Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the Board scheduled a public hearing on the proposed <br />FY 2014 Cabarrus County Budget for Monday, June 17, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. or as <br />soon thereafter as persons may be heard. <br />(H) APPOINTMENTS <br />(H -1) Appointments (Removals) - Council for a Sustainable Local Economy <br />Appointments and removals are needed for the Council for a Sustainable <br />Local Economy (CSLE.). Robin Pope has submitted an application to serve on <br />the Council for a Sustainable Local Economy. <br />Rod Townley and Lori Clay have submitted their resignations from the <br />Council effective May 1, 2013. Both members have served the Council since <br />its creation in April of 2011. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Burrage, seconded by Vice Chairman White <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Robin Pope to the Council for a <br />Sustainable Local Economy (CSLE) to complete an unexpired term ending <br />December 31, 2013 and an additional one -year term ending December 31, 2014. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Burrage, seconded by Vice Chairman White <br />and unanimously carried, the Board removed Rod Townley and Lori Clay from the <br />Council for a Sustainable Local Economy roster effective May 1, 2013 and <br />thanked them for their many years of service. <br />(H -2) Appointments - Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />Cynthia Brooks and Paula Brandle have submitted applications to serve <br />on the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee. Both applicants have <br />been prequalified by Laurie Abounader, Regional Ombudsman. <br />Ed Burns' term on the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee ends <br />May 31st. He is willing to serve another term. <br />There are six (6) vacant positions on this Board. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Cynthia Brooks and Paula Brandle <br />to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for one -year terms ending <br />May 31, 2014. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Ed Burns to the Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee for a three -year term ending May 31, 2016. <br />(H -3) Appointments - Cabarrus County Youth Council (CCYC) <br />An appointment is requested for the CCYC position representing Jay M. <br />Robinson High School. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Nicholas McNiffe to the Cabarrus <br />County Youth Council representing the Jay M. Robinson High School position <br />for a one -year term ending June 30, 2014. <br />
