<br />Discussion Items For Action at Julv 15. 2013
<br />Finance - CCS QSCB Reallocation Request - Budget Amendment
<br />Len Witke, Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) and Kelly Kluttz, CCS Chief
<br />Financial Officer, presented the following information relating to a QSCB
<br />(Qualified School Construction Bonds) reallocation request:
<br />Cabarrus County Schools are requesting reallocation of QSCB funds.
<br />The Northwest Cabarrus High School Athletic Practice Fields
<br />project will not be used due to the National Guard's inability to
<br />help with the project within the time frame of completion by April
<br />1, 2014, and the fact that, without the Guard's help, very little
<br />meaningful work could be accomplished with the funds in the
<br />Northwest Cabarrus High School project. The request is to move
<br />the remaining money to the JN Fries Magnet School Roof Replacement
<br />project. That project is underfunded due to the need for the
<br />project to meet the new energy code now in effect. Also, the Mt.
<br />Pleasant High School Boiler project is underfunded due to the
<br />change of fuel burners from oil to dual fuel burners (gas and oil)
<br />and related controls. Unused funds from the Coltrane Webb Kitchen
<br />Hoods and Various School Breaker Panels will be reallocated to the
<br />Mt. Pleasant High School Boiler Project.
<br />In response to a question from the Board regarding the Central Cabarrus
<br />High School planetarium, Mr. Witke stated he is in the process of locating a
