July 15, 2013 (Regular Meeting) Page 1632 <br />removed Zachary Lustik "Student under 18" from the JCPC roster and thanked <br />him for his service; and removed John Lewis "Juvenile Defense Attorney" from <br />the JCPC roster due to lack of attendance at meetings. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) County Manager - Monthly Reports on Building Activity <br />The Board received the Cabarrus County Construction Standards Dodge <br />Report for June 2013 and the Cabarrus County Commercial Building Plan Review <br />Summary for June 2013 for informational purposes as part of the Agenda. No <br />action was required of the Board. <br />(I -2) Planning and Development - CDBG Monthly Report for May <br />The Board received the monthly report for CDBG activity for <br />informational purposes as part of the Agenda. No action was required of the <br />Board. <br />(I -3) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards /Committees: <br />® Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee - 4 Vacancies <br />® Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee - 9 Expired <br />Positions and 1 Vacant Position <br />® Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission - 4 Positions with <br />Expiring Terms <br />® Centralina Workforce Development Board - 2 Positions with Expiring <br />Terms <br />® Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (ETJ) - 1 Vacant Position <br />® Council for a Sustainable Local Economy - 2 Vacant Positions <br />® Food Policy Council - 4 Positions with Expired Terms <br />® Home and Community Care Block Grant Committee - 2 Vacant Positions <br />® Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority - 1 <br />Expired Term and 2 Vacant Positions <br />® Juvenile Crime Prevention Council - 4 Vacant Positions <br />® Library Board of Trustees - 1 Position with Expiring Term - Midland <br />Area <br />® Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee - 7 Vacant Positions <br />® Transportation Advisory Board - 2 Positions with Expiring Terms and <br />4 Vacant Positions <br />® Youth Council - 7 Positions with Expiring Terms and 2 Vacant <br />Positions <br />Chairman Poole reviewed the aforementioned list and urged citizens to <br />consider participating on a Board or Committee. <br />(I -4) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees <br />None. <br />(I -5) Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus - Annual Report <br />The Board received the annual report for the Humane Society of Concord <br />and Greater Cabarrus for informational purposes as part of the Agenda. No <br />action was required of the Board. <br />GENERAL COMMENTS BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />Chairman Poole recognized John Cox, Cabarrus Economic Development <br />Corporation, and congratulated him on his new position in Florida. <br />Vice Chairman White submitted his resignation from the Board of <br />Commissioners, effective immediately. He advised Hartsell and Williams, P.A. <br />responded to a request for qualifications to serve and represent the <br />Department of Human Services. He stated, if the County deems it appropriate <br />to discuss this matter further with Hartsell and Williams, P.A., then it will <br />not be appropriate for him to continue serving as commissioner; therefore, <br />he is resigning his office as Commissioner in the event Hartsell and <br />Williams, P.A. is selected to serve as legal counsel for the Department of <br />
