<br />(F -5) Human Resources - Reappointment of the Cabarrus County Tax
<br />Administrator
<br />Brent Weisner was reappointed as Tax Administrator for a four -year term
<br />by the Board of Commissioners, effective August 9, 2009, and ending August 8,
<br />2013. NCGS 105 -294 provides for reappointment of the county assessor to a
<br />term of not less than two or more than four years. NCGS 105 -349 provides for
<br />a concurrent appointment of a tax collector. Mr. Weisner meets the
<br />requirements of this position and is recommended for a four -year
<br />reappointment.
<br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Jeffery Brent Weisner to a
<br />four -year term as County Assessor and Tax Collector for Cabarrus County for
<br />the period of August 9, 2013 through August 8, 2017. This position has the
<br />title of Tax Administrator and reports directly to the County Manager.
<br />(F -6) Library - Acceptance of the FY13 /14 LSTA Literacy and Lifelong
<br />Learning Project Grant and Creation of a Grant Funded FTE Position
<br />The Library has been awarded a FY13/14 LSTA Literacy and Lifelong
<br />Learning Project Grant in the amount of $63,481.00. The Board approved the
<br />grant application on February 18, 2013. Dana Eure, Library Director, is
<br />requesting the creation of a new FTE position for a one -year period. The
<br />requested position is a Senior Library Assistant. The duties of the Senior
<br />Library Assistant will focus on computer education projects, writing lesson
<br />plans for computer classes, training staff on lesson delivery and working
<br />with Literacy Council volunteers on computer classes.
<br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman White, seconded by Commissioner Burrage
<br />and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the FY 13/14 LSTA Literacy and
<br />Lifelong Learning Project Grant, to create an FTE position for the Cabarrus
<br />County Library System to utilize grant funding for FY2014 and approved the
<br />related budget revision.

<br />(F -7) Library - Acceptance of the LSTA EZ Collaboration and Innovation Grant
<br />The Library was awarded the LSTA EZ Collaboration and Innovation Grant
<br />in the amount of $16,311.00 with a required match of $1,813.00. The Board
<br />approved the application for this grant on February 18, 2013. The grant will
<br />be used for a four- county community read featuring "Mr. Penumbra's 24 -Hour
<br />Bookstore ". The matching funds for the grant will come from the Cannon
<br />Memorial Trust Fund.
