It was the consensus of the Board to receive feedback from the school principal to determine if there are projects with a higher priority than the planetarium. Active Living and Parks - Matching Incentive Grant Recommendations Londa Strong, Active Living and Parks Director, presented the following information relating to matching incentive grant recommendations: The Active Living and Parks Department has a Matching Incentive Grant Program open to non - profit organizations for development of recreational opportunities on lands owned by Cabarrus County, Cabarrus County Schools or area municipalities. Land leased to the County or Schools, for a minimum of 25 years, is also eligible. The program provides for the maintenance or upgrade of existing facilities as well as the purchase of land to be developed for park and recreational pursuits. The grant requests were submitted to the Active Living and Parks Commission for review and recommendation to the Board of Commissioners. The Property Committee met after hearing the presentations to the ALP's Commission and made a recommendation to the full ALP's Commission at their August 22, 2013 meeting. There were $72,132.00 in requests for the budgeted $50,000.00 per the FY2013 -14 Budget. If approved, there will be at least $100,000.00 in projects completed this fiscal year from these organizations.
