October 21, 2013 (Regular Meeting) Page 1731 <br />WHEREAS, DECA's guiding principles are designed to explain how DECA fulfills <br />their mission; and <br />WHEREAS, DECA enhances the co- curricular education of members through a <br />comprehensive learning program that integrates into classroom instruction, <br />applies learning, connects to business and promotes competition; and <br />WHEREAS, DECA's activities assist in the development of academically <br />prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced <br />leaders; and <br />WHEREAS, DECA's attributes and values describe the organization's priorities <br />and standards, including competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork; <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />do hereby proclaim November, 2013, as <br />DECA Month <br />in Cabarrus County and urge all citizens to become familiar with the services <br />and benefits offered by the DECA chapters at Concord High School and Jay M. <br />Robinson High School and to support and participate in these programs to <br />prepare them for college and professional careers. <br />Adopted this the 21 day of October, 2013. <br />/s/ Elizabeth F. Poole, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />(C -2) BOC - Veterans Day Proclamation <br />Chairman Poole read the proclamation recognizing Veterans Day aloud. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Burrage, seconded by Vice Chairman Measmer <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following proclamation: <br />Proclamation No. 2013 -16 <br />Proclamation <br />Veterans Day 2013 <br />WHEREAS, America was founded on the principles of liberty, opportunity and <br />justice for all; and <br />WHEREAS, America has called on her men and women in uniform to protect our <br />national security, to preserve our rights and freedoms and to keep our <br />democracy safe; and <br />WHEREAS, through their steadfast defense of America's ideals, our service <br />members have ensured our country still stands strong, our founding principles <br />still shine, and nations around the world know the blessings of freedom; and <br />WHEREAS, on Veterans Day November 11, 2013, we recognize the men and women of <br />our Armed Forces who valiantly defended these values throughout our Nation's <br />History; and <br />WHEREAS, we also remember and pay tribute to the American armed forces whose <br />courage and sacrifice secures our freedom and keeps the peace and defends our <br />values around the world; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim <br />November 11, 2013 as National Veterans Day and call upon our citizens to <br />always remember and honor our veterans, and those who continue to serve this <br />country so willingly to preserve the principles of justice, freedom and <br />democracy for all. <br />Adopted this the 21S day of October, 2013. <br />/s/ Elizabeth F.
