October 21, 2013 (Regular Meeting) Page 1787 <br />was determined that January 1, 2014 would be a suitable date to convert to <br />maintaining electronic copies as the official permanent record. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution: <br />Resolution No. 2013 -16 <br />RESOLUTION RECORDING REGISTER OF DEEDS DOCUMENTS IN AN ELECTRONIC FORMAT <br />WHEREAS, it is a common business practice to record and store documents in an <br />electronic format; <br />WHEREAS, the County has an electronic storage resource to store documents for <br />easy access and reduction of paper and storage space expenditures; <br />WHEREAS, NC General Statute 47 -16.4 (5) and (6) allows for documents to be <br />maintained in electronic format as permanent records; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners endorses storage of all documents filed as or in the manner of <br />real estate transactions by the Register of Deeds in electronic format as the <br />official record beginning January 1, 2014 and thereafter.
