April 16, 2012 (Regular Meeting) Page 1032 <br />This item was removed from the Agenda at the request of Cabarrus County <br />Schools. <br />H) APPOINTMENTS <br />(H -1) Appointments - Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />An application was received from LeRoy Deabler and forwarded to the <br />Regional Ombudsman for consideration. There are currently six (6) vacant <br />positions on this Committee. The Regional Ombudsman prequalified Mr. <br />Deabler's application and he is eligible for appointment. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed LeRoy Deabler to the Nursing <br />Home Community Advisory Committee for an initial one -year term ending April <br />30, 2013. <br />(H -2) Appointments - Cabarrus County Youth Council <br />An application has been received from Michael Walker for the Youth <br />Council. Mr. Walker attends Cox Mill High School. Currently there are two <br />(2) vacant positions for this school on the Council. <br />An application has also been received from Cheyenne Carothers for the <br />Youth Council. Ms. Carothers attends Northwest Cabarrus High School. <br />Currently there is one (1) vacant position for this school on the Council. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Michael Walker to the Cabarrus <br />County Youth Council representing Cox Mill High School for a one -year term <br />ending June 30, 2013 and appointed Cheyenne Carothers to the Cabarrus County <br />Youth Council representing Northwest Cabarrus High School to complete an <br />unexpired term ending June 30, 2013. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) Human Services - 2011 End of Year Child Victimization Report <br />Following an introduction from Ben Rose, Human Services Director, <br />Margaret Cox, Cabarrus Community Child Protective Team, and Suzanne Knight, <br />Child Fatality Prevention Task Force Chair and Clinical Director at the <br />Cabarrus Health Alliance, presented the 2011 End of Year Child Victimization <br />Report. Ms. Cox and Ms. Knight also responded to questions from the Board. <br />The report included the following information: <br />• Membership <br />• Activities <br />• Child Abuse and Neglect in Cabarrus County <br />• Child Fatality Prevention Task Force (CFPT) <br />• The Role of the County Commission <br />• Other Considerations <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the 2011 End of Year Child <br />Victimization Report as presented. <br />(I -2) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees <br />Chairman Poole announced WSACC (Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus <br />County) is celebrating their 20 anniversary; and the CRMPO (Cabarrus -Rowan <br />Metropolitan Planning Organization) will hold two (2) citizen information <br />workshops to receive comments from the public on the CTP Index and 2040 LRTP <br />goals and objectives. The citizen information workshops will be held on <br />April 17, 2012 in the Rowan County Commissioner's Meeting Room 130 W. Innes <br />Street in Salisbury and on April 18, 2012 in the Rotunda of the Cabarrus <br />County Governmental Center located at 65 Church Street SE in Concord. The <br />public is invited to drop -in any time during the workshop between 4:00 p.m. <br />and 6:00 p.m. each evening (displays and staff will be available). <br />Commissioner Carruth announced the NCACC (North Carolina Association of <br />County Commissioners) District meeting will be held on April 19th at the <br />Embassy Suites in Concord and County Assembly Day will be held on May 30th in <br />Raleigh. <br />
