May 10, 2012 (Recessed Meeting) <br />CCS - QSCB Funding Reallocation Request - $801,483.00 <br />Len Witke, Facilities Management Director, <br />request and responded to questions from the Board: <br />Page 1051 <br />reviewed the following <br />The Cabarrus County School Board is requesting QSCB funds be <br />reallocated from various QSCB projects to help increase the <br />funding for Northwest Cabarrus High School Gymnasium ($661,406), <br />the Central Cabarrus High School Chiller project ($100,000) and <br />the Central Cabarrus High School Office Renovation ($40,077) . <br />This reallocation will be discussed at the May 14, 2012 Cabarrus <br />County School Board meeting. <br />Finance - QSCB Northwest Cabarrus High School Gymnasium Funding - $466,420.00 <br />Len Witke, Facilities Management Director, reviewed the following <br />request and responded to questions from the Board: <br />The Cabarrus County School Board is requesting QSCB funds be <br />reallocated from the Northwest Cabarrus High School practice <br />field project ($310,400) and the Northwest Cabarrus High School <br />Entrance renovation project ($156,020) and given to the Northwest <br />Cabarrus High School Gym Addition project ($466,420). This <br />reallocation was approved by the School Board on April 16, 2012. <br />Mr. Van Wieren, Manager of HVAC, PM and Plumbing, responded to <br />questions from the Board. A general discussion ensued. Topics addressed <br />included the following: cost savings: renovations vs. replacement; lack of <br />school facilities (football fields) being available for use by the <br />public /taxpayer; etc. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place both QSCB (Qualified School <br />Construction Bonds) items on the New Business portion of the May 21, 2012 <br />agenda. <br />In order to attend a speaking engagement, Commissioner Measmer left the <br />meeting at 6:15 p.m. and was not present for the remainder of the meeting. <br />BOC Strategic Plan: Goal 1, Part 5 and Goal 3, Part 2, No. 2 <br />Chairman Poole reviewed the following Board objectives, shown in <br />italics below, that relate to Cabarrus County Schools: <br />Goal 1.
