<br />Kyle Bilafer, General Services Director, advised sealed bids were
<br />solicited for the Human Services Center renovations. Staff reviewed the
<br />submittals and recommends the bid be awarded to Ike's Construction. In order
<br />to meet project deadlines, he requested the Board suspend its rules of
<br />procedures and award the bid at the work session. He and Mike Downs, County
<br />Manager, responded to questions from the Board.
<br />The bid tabulation is as follows:
<br />In accordance with NCGS 143 -129, the following bid notice was posted to
<br />the Cabarrus County website on July 17, 2012.
<br />Invitation for Bid for Human Services Center Renovations
<br />Notice is given hereby that sealed proposals will be received by
<br />Cabarrus County on Wednesday, August 1st at 3:30 PM EST in the
<br />Board of Commissioners Room located on the second floor of she
<br />Governmental Center, 65 Church St., SE, Concord NC and
<br />immediately thereafter publicly opened and read for the
<br />furnishing of labor, material and equipment for the Human
<br />Services Center Renovations. The scope of the project is the
<br />renovations of about 16,500 square feet of the building which is
<br />located at 1303 South Cannon, Blvd., Kannapolis, NC.
<br />Bids shall be received as follows:
<br />Single Prime Bids will be received for General Contract which
<br />will include all of the work.
<br />Plans for bidding will be issued as follows:
<br />a. General contract bidders shall be issued one (1) composite
<br />set of plans and specifications including HVAC,. Plumbing, and
<br />Electrical.
<br />Complete plans, specifications, and contract documents will be
<br />open for inspection in the office of the architect, Yates
<br />Chreitzberg Hughes Architects, located at 145 Union St. South,
<br />Concord, NC.
<br />Plan Deposit
<br />Bidders may receive one (1) copy of the bid documents listed
<br />above upon payment of $75.00 deposit ($75.00 per set), completely
<br />refundable for each set returned to the Architect postpaid, in
<br />satisfactory condition, within 10 days after the bid opening.
<br />Additional copies of the plans and specifications may be secured
<br />by a bidder upon payment of $75.00 per set, non - refundable.
<br />All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper
<br />license under the State laws governing their respective trades.
<br />There will be a MANDATORY pre -bid meeting July 18th at 9:00 AM at
<br />the location, 1303 South Cannon Blvd. in Kannapolis. We will meet
<br />in the main building lobby. After the meeting the space to be
<br />renovated will be open for walkthrough and inspections until 4:00
<br />PM that day. Any walkthroughs after that day will need to be
<br />coordinated at the owner's convenience.
