The affected parcel is the part of the land <br />purchased for Winkler Middle School but the planned road <br />extension does not affect the school or its facilities. The <br />request is to purchase .608 acres (Parcel No. R -2246B 076A; Pin <br />No. 5600 -81 -5096) for $18,825.00. In the past, the Board of <br />Commissioners has designated proceeds from land purchases at <br />schools to the affected school. A budget amendment is also <br />provided that shows the anticipated revenue and assigns it to <br />Winkler Middle School. <br />Mr. Marshall also advised that NCDOT's Division 10 Engineer, Barry <br />Moose, has confirmed DOT's intention to install a gate on Parcel No. R -2246B <br />076A) that will not represent a legal access, but rather a physical access <br />that can be used for emergency ingress and egress by the schools that adjoin <br />this parcel. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the NCDOT right -of -way purchase, <br />authorized the County Manager to complete the required documents, and <br />approved the related budget amendment, pending approval from the authorizing <br />financial institution. <br />Date:7/27/2012 Amount:$18,825 <br />Dept. Local Cooperative Extension <br />employees are compensated in part by the local jurisdiction. The <br />Director of County Operations, Sheri Schwab, has requested action <br />by the local jurisdictions to either award the local proportional <br />share of the awarded leave or not. Local Cooperative Extension <br />employees are not eligible for the additional 8 hours of leave <br />that the BOC awarded County employees as part of the County's FY <br />2012 -13 budget. <br />Mr. Marshall also stated the availability of the Cooperative Extension <br />Director, to respond to questions from the Board. <br />
