October 15, 2012 (Regular Meeting) <br />Page 1270 <br />(H -2) Appointments (Removal) - Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />The Regional Ombudsman requests the removal of Annette Archer from the <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee's roster. Due to scheduling <br />conflicts, Ms. Archer was unable to complete the required training. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board removed Annette Archer from the Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee roster as requested by the Regional <br />Ombudsman. <br />(H -3) Appointments - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) <br />Appointments are needed for the following JCPC positions: Police <br />Chief /Designee and Student under 18 years of age. <br />Terri Stancil (Member of Business Community) has submitted her <br />resignation from the JCPC effective November lst. Ms. Stancil has served on <br />the JCPC since March 21, 2005. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Vice Chairman Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed David Zienka (Police <br />Chief /Designee) to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) to complete <br />an unexpired term ending September 30, 2013; appointed Zachary Lustik <br />(Student under 18 years of age) to the JCPC for a two -year term ending June <br />30, 2014; and removed Terri Stancil from the JCPC roster effective November <br />1, 2012 and expressed appreciation for her many years of service. <br />(H -4) Appointments - Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />According to the Regional Ombudsman, Linda Barnhardt wishes to be <br />reappointed to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. <br />Currently, there are five (5) vacant positions on this committee. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Measmer and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Linda Barnhardt to the Nursing <br />Home Community Advisory Committee for a three -year term ending October 31, <br />2015. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) EDC - Quarterly Report Ending September 30, 2012 <br />The Board received the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Quarterly <br />Report Ending September 30, 2012 for informational purposes as part of the <br />Agenda. <br />The report included the following information: <br />• North Carolina Economic Overview: August 2012 <br />• National Economic Update <br />• State Performance Metrics <br />• Staff Activities: July 1 - September 30, 2012 <br />• Missions, Convention Report: July - September, 2012 <br />• Project Activity 2011 vs 2012 <br />• Economic Indicators <br />• Local Contacts /Visits July - September 2012 <br />(I -2) BOC - Receive Updates from Commission Members Who Serve as Liaisons to <br />Municipalities or on Various Board /Committees <br />Commissioner Measmer announced Seth Bollenbecker was elected President <br />of the Youth Council for this year. He stated next week, the Council will <br />take a tour of the Incubator Farm. He also commended Leslie Porfeli, Youth <br />Council member, for her participation as moderator for the discussion panel <br />with the elected officials at Friday's 4 -H Citizenship Focus held at A.L. <br />Brown High School. <br />(I -3) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Applications are being accepted for the following County <br />Boards /Committees: <br />
