She stated 50 of their budget, approximately $200,000 per <br />year, goes to funding Cabarrus County sports. <br />Michael Applegate, CVB, advised the addition of the two artificial turf <br />fields will attract more sports tournaments and bring increased revenue to <br />the county. Mr. Applegate, Ms. Carpenter and Ms. Strong responded to <br />questions from the board. <br />A discussion ensued. No action was taken. <br />In answer to a question from Commissioner Burrage during discussion of <br />multipurpose fields at Frank Liske Park, Kyle Bilafer, General Services <br />Director, stated the softball field complex electrical costs are $12 - <br />$13,000 annually. This cost encompasses irrigation, lighting and concession <br />stands. <br />County Manager - Monthly Reports on Building Activity <br />Jonathan Marshall, Deputy County Manager, advised the board requested <br />monthly reports of building and permit activity including the information of <br />plans under review. He reviewed examples of available types of reports to <br />ensure the request is met. A brief discussion ensued. During discussion, <br />Mr. Marshall responded to questions from the board. Vice Chairman White <br />requested a prior year to current year comparison on the building activity <br />reports. <br />Mike Downs, County Manager, <br />regarding the types of reports to be <br />reports. He advised the first batch is expected to be on the January <br />agenda. <br />Discussion Items For Action at December 17, 2012 Meeting <br />Finance - Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCB) Reallocation Recru.est for <br />Cabarrus County Schools $551,071 <br />Chairman Poole advised Len Witke and Kelly Kluttz, Cabarrus County <br />Schools (CCS), left to attend the CCS Board of Education meeting this evening. <br />She suggested this item be placed on New Business for discussion at the <br />December regular meeting. <br />Active Living and Parks Department - 2013 Fees and Charges Policy <br />Londa Strong, Active Living and Parks Director, presented the following <br />information related to changes to the Parks Fees and Charges Policy for 2013: <br />The Active Living and Parks Department proposes the following <br />changes to the current Fees and Charges Policy for 2013: <br />Substitution of the name to Active Living and Parks Department <br />throughout the document; definition of 501(c)3 place of <br />operation, adoption of a fee for water used in dunking booths and <br />similar activities, addition of a pool party birthday package; <br />elimination of the 2 night minimum on cabin and tent rentals from <br />November to February; and the addition of a road race rental fee. <br />
