July 18, 2011 (Regular Meeting) <br />Chairman White advised the Cabarrus <br />Education system has not reviewed the <br />Kannapolis City School version will be voted <br />Page 547 <br />County School (CCS) Board of <br />Agreement; therefore, only the <br />on this evening. <br />Debbie Brannan, Information Technology Services (ITS) Director, <br />reported Cabarrus County ITS met with both school systems and worked to <br />identify and engage in initiatives to avoid ITS expenditures, reduce ITS <br />costs and enhance technology services. She identified the first initiative <br />as a data center co- location for cost avoidance in addition to providing <br />disaster recovery and high availability for the school systems, without the <br />need for the school systems to build or outsource to a secondary data center. <br />The Agreement will also promote the use of "green" ITS by reducing multiple <br />agency data centers, reduce energy usage and real estate footprint. In <br />addition, reductions in electrical costs, HVAC and hardware maintenance costs <br />are anticipated. Finally, she advised the broadly- written Agreement <br />authorizes the agencies to work together, positions the department to make <br />future IT investments in shared computing platforms and technologies and <br />provides for the inclusion of future schedules /projects as they are <br />identified. <br />Will Crabtree, Kannapolis City <br />has been presented to the KCS Board of <br />advised school administration fully <br />opinion the BOE will also support it. <br />Schools (KCS), reported the Agreement <br />Education (BOE), but not voted on. He <br />supports the concept and is of the <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Interagency Agreement for <br />Collaborative Technology Services for Kannapolis City Schools and authorized <br />the County Manager to execute the contract, subject to review or revisions by <br />the County Attorney. <br />(G -2) Aging Nutrition Program Food Vendor Contract <br />Mike Murphy, Director of Aging, presented information related to a <br />request for a bid award and contract approval for catering services to be <br />provided for the LunchPlus Club Nutrition Program.
