July 18, 2011 (Regular Meeting) <br />H) APPOINTMENTS <br />(H -1) Appointments - Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />Applications for the Adult Care <br />been received from Sandra Miller, <br />Stevenson and Dr. Arvind Vasudevan. <br />Regional Ombudsman. <br />Page 548 <br />Home Community Advisory Committee have <br />Lacee Monte, Marie Ramseur, Jinitza <br />All have been prequalified by the <br />The term of appointment for Joanne Yurchison will end July 31, 2011. <br />Ms. Yurchison has served since 2004 and is willing to serve another term. <br />Therefore, an exception to the "length of service" provision of the <br />Appointment Policy is requested. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Joanne Yurchison to the Adult <br />Care Home Community Advisory Committee for a three -year term ending July 31, <br />2014, including an exception to the "length of service" provision of the <br />Appointment Policy. By the same vote, the Board appointed Sandra Miller, <br />Lacee Monte, Marie Ramseur, Jinitza Stevenson and Dr. Arvind Vasudevan to the <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for one -year terms ending July <br />31, 2012. <br />(H -2) Appointments - Cabarrus County Youth Council <br />Applications have been received from Casey James Aldridge and Harrison <br />Reiff for the Youth Council. Mr. Aldridge and Mr. Reiff attend Concord High <br />School. Currently, there are two (2) vacant positions for this school on the <br />Council. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Casey Aldridge to the Cabarrus <br />County Youth Council (CCYC) for a one -year term ending February 21, 2012 <br />representing Concord High School and appointed Harrison Reiff to the CCYC for <br />a two -year term ending February 21, 2013 representing Concord High School. <br />(H -3) Appointments - Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission <br />The terms of appointments for the following Planning and Zoning <br />Commission members expire August 31, 2011: Mary Blakeney (alternate, Concord <br />area), Barry Shoemaker (Kannapolis area), Thomas Porter, (Eastern area) and <br />Larry Ensley (Northwest area). <br />Mary Blakeney also serves on the Food Policy Council. An exception to <br />the "service on multiple boards" provision of the Appointment Policy will be <br />needed. <br />The appointments are needed in July to allow time for training of new <br />members. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mary Blakeney (alternate, <br />Concord area) and Larry Ensley (Northwest area) to the Cabarrus Planning and <br />Zoning Commission for three -year terms ending August 31, 2014, including an <br />exception to the "service on multiple boards" provision of the Appointment <br />Policy for Ms. Blakeney. By the same vote, the Board appointed James Litaker <br />(Kannapolis area) and Aaron Ritchie (Eastern area) for three -year terms <br />ending August 31, 2014. <br />(H -4) Appointments - Food Policy Council <br />Bonnie Silvers "At- large" and Christy Wright "Education" have recently <br />resigned from the Food Policy Council. It is requested that Greg Kesterson <br />be appointed to complete Ms. Silver's unexpired term and for Marcia Brashear <br />to be appointed to complete Ms. Wright's unexpired term. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Greg Kesterson to the Food <br />Policy Council as an "At- large" representative to complete an unexpired term <br />ending December 31, 2013 and appointed Marcia Brashear to the Food Policy <br />Council as an "Education" representative to complete an unexpired term ending <br />December 31, 2011. <br />(H -5) Appointments - Library Board of Trustees <br />
