September 6, 2011 (Work Session) Page 582 <br />Commerce - Additional American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funding for <br />Weatherization <br />Kelly Sifford, Community Development Manager, advised the County is one <br />of two (2) counties eligible to receive $75,000.00 of additional Federal APRA <br />(American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) funds for the Weatherization <br />program. The Program provides energy efficiency measures to qualified low - <br />income families living in single- family homes or in rental units in the <br />county. She further advised the additional funding would be used to reduce a <br />backlog of clients. <br />Ms. Sifford also responded to a variety of questions from the Board and <br />a general discussion ensued. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place "Additional American <br />Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funding for Weatherization" on the September <br />19, 2011 Agenda as a New Business item. <br />Commerce - Proposed Development at Corner of Union and Corban Street <br />This item was removed from the Agenda. <br />Commerce - Reservation of Capacity Certificate for Brooke Point Manor <br />Susie Morris, Planning and Zoning Manager, presented the following <br />information relating to a request for a Reservation of Capacity Certificate <br />for Brooke Point Manor: <br />Brooke Pointe Manor, LLC, (106 Muir Woods Drive, Cary, NC 27513) <br />is requesting a Reservation of Capacity for the Brooke Pointe <br />Manor Apartment project, which consists of 66 multi- family units <br />on +/- 4.53 acres, located off Davidson Highway in the City of <br />Concord, North Carolina. <br />School Capacity Review <br />The Brooke Pointe Manor multi - family residential project is <br />expected to produce approximately 10 elementary students, 4 <br />middle school students and 5 high school students for a total of <br />19 students.
