November 7, 2011 (Work Session) Page 858 <br />Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, advised this project began when Cox <br />Mill High School was being built. Funds ($360,000.00) were requested by CCS <br />to build a data center which would have created a duplication. After many <br />meetings, she said this collaborative project meets the needs of both school <br />systems and saves money by eliminating duplicate centers. <br />For clarification, Vice Chairman Poole advised the data will be secure. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place "ITS - Collaborative <br />Technology Services School Technology Funding Request - $115,300.00" on the <br />November 21, 2011 Agenda as a Consent item. <br />Vice Chairman Poole commended staff for their efforts with this <br />project. <br />Library - Eagle Scout at Mt. Pleasant Library <br />Dana Eure, Library Director, presented a request for Ben Greeson to <br />erect a flag pole at the Mt. Pleasant Library for his Eagle Scout project. <br />She stated the Library supports this project and he would like to present his <br />project to the Board at the November regular meeting. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place "Library - Eagle Scout <br />Project at Mt. Pleasant Library" on the November 21, 2011 Agenda as a New <br />Business item. <br />Parks Department - Request to Use Contingency Funds for Tree Replacement at <br />Frank Liske Park and Related Budget Amendment <br />Londa Strong, Parks Director, presented the following information <br />relating to a request to use contingency funds for tree replacement at Frank <br />Liske Park: eighty -one (81) trees were removed at Frank Liske Park during <br />the construction and installation of the Monroe gas line project; a <br />settlement of $11,075.00 was reached between Cabarrus County and Monroe <br />during an arbitration meeting held on July 20, 2011; the Board accepted the <br />funds on August 15, 2011 and placed them in its contingency line item; and it <br />is requested that these funds be used to purchase replacement trees for the <br />Park. <br />Commissioner Carruth MOVED to place "Parks Department - Request to Use <br />Contingency Funds for Tree Replacement at Frank Liske Park and Related Budget <br />Amendment" on the November 21, 2011 Agenda as a Consent item. Commissioner <br />Measmer seconded the motion. <br />Following comments from Commissioner Carruth on the origin of the <br />fallen trees, the MOTION unanimously carried. <br />Sheriff - Approval of Piggyback Bid for Purchase of Police Interceptor <br />Vehicles <br />Chief Deputy Paul Hunt, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department, requested <br />approval of a piggyback bid from the City of Concord, N.C. to Hilbish Motor <br />Company for the purchase of ten (10) Police Interceptor Vehicles with monies <br />set aside in the FY 2012 budget.
