November 7, 2011 (Work Session) Page 858 Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, advised this project began when Cox Mill High School was being built. Funds ($360,000.00) were requested by CCS to build a data center which would have created a duplication. After many meetings, she said this collaborative project meets the needs of both school systems and saves money by eliminating duplicate centers. For clarification, Vice Chairman Poole advised the data will be secure. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place "ITS - Collaborative Technology Services School Technology Funding Request - $115,300.00" on the November 21, 2011 Agenda as a Consent item. Vice Chairman Poole commended staff for their efforts with this project. Library - Eagle Scout at Mt. Pleasant Library Dana Eure, Library Director, presented a request for Ben Greeson to erect a flag pole at the Mt. Pleasant Library for his Eagle Scout project. She stated the Library supports this project and he would like to present his project to the Board at the November regular meeting. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Measmer, seconded by Commissioner Carruth and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place "Library - Eagle Scout Project at Mt. Pleasant Library" on the November 21, 2011 Agenda as a New Business item. Parks Department - Request to Use Contingency Funds for Tree Replacement at Frank Liske Park and Related Budget Amendment Londa Strong, Parks Director, presented the following information relating to a request to use contingency funds for tree replacement at Frank Liske Park: eighty -one (81) trees were removed at Frank Liske Park during the construction and installation of the Monroe gas line project; a settlement of $11,075.00 was reached between Cabarrus County and Monroe during an arbitration meeting held on July 20, 2011; the Board accepted the funds on August 15, 2011 and placed them in its contingency line item; and it is requested that these funds be used to purchase replacement trees for the Park. Commissioner Carruth MOVED to place "Parks Department - Request to Use Contingency Funds for Tree Replacement at Frank Liske Park and Related Budget Amendment" on the November 21, 2011 Agenda as a Consent item. Commissioner Measmer seconded the motion. Following comments from Commissioner Carruth on the origin of the fallen trees, the MOTION unanimously carried. Sheriff - Approval of Piggyback Bid for Purchase of Police Interceptor Vehicles Chief Deputy Paul Hunt, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department, requested approval of a piggyback bid from the City of Concord, N.C. to Hilbish Motor Company for the purchase of ten (10) Police Interceptor Vehicles with monies set aside in the FY 2012 budget. He also responded to questions from the Board and a brief discussion ensued. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Burrage and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place "Sheriff - Approval of Piggyback Bid for Purchase of Police Interceptor Vehicles" on the November 21, 2011 Agenda as a Consent item.
