He advised the flag pole will <br />promote the symbolism of our freedom of speech and to commemorate our <br />veterans. <br />Chairman White advised him to collaborate with Commissioner Carruth, <br />whose son erected a flag pole at his church for his Eagle Scout project a few <br />years ago. <br />Mr. Greeson responded to questions from the Board concerning project <br />cost and fundraising efforts. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request to erect a flag pole <br />at the Mount Pleasant Library. <br />(G -2) Commerce - Approval of NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission Grant - <br />$75,000.00 <br />Jonathan Marshall, Commerce Director, requested approval of a <br />$75,000.00 grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission to <br />fund site improvements at the Piedmont Farmers Market Winecoff location. Mr. <br />Marshall also addressed the origin of the Trust Fund monies in response to a <br />question from the Board. <br />UPON MOTION of Vice Chairman Poole, seconded by Commissioner Carruth <br />and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the grant award and authorized <br />the Interim County Manager and County Attorney to execute the contract <br />between NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission and Cabarrus County (Grant No. 2011- <br />047-19); and adopted the related budget amendment and project ordinance. <br />Date:10/27/2011 Amount:$75,000 <br />Dept.
