February 1, 2010 (Work Session) Page 1782 <br />Vice Chairman Poole stated the schools will ask in what county the <br />bedrooms are located because the bedrooms determine attendance boundaries. <br />In response to questions from the Board whether the affected homes will <br />be changing counties, Mr. Belk responded in the negative and explained the <br />process is being accepted as a state survey and the line is being accepted as <br />it is; some acreage will be lost to Union County; and the line will not be <br />moved around structures. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place Tax Administration - <br />Establish Official County Boundary Between Cabarrus and Union Counties - <br />February 2010 on the February 15, 2010 Agenda as a Consent item. <br />BOC - Request to Increase Rabies Vaccination for Dogs and Cats Administered <br />During Countywide Rabies Clinic <br />Commissioner Carruth announced the Animal Protection and Preservation <br />Advisory Committee will meet this evening to consider the matter. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to place BOC - Request to Increase <br />Rabies Vaccination for Dogs and Cats Administered During Countywide Rabies <br />Clinic on the February 15, 2010 Agenda as a New Business item. <br />Resolution Honoring Branson Jones <br />Vice Chairman Poole announced a dear friend and good citizen of <br />Cabarrus County, Branson Jones, passed away yesterday. She offered <br />condolences to Mr. Jones's family and friends. She mentioned Mr. Jones was <br />the county's first economic recruiter among the many things he did for the <br />county. She advised she will draft a resolution to be included in February's <br />agenda in recognition of Mr. Jones's many years of service to the citizens of <br />Cabarrus County. <br />Retreat Agenda <br />Vice Chairman Poole stated a draft agenda has been prepared for the <br />Board of Commissioners' retreat scheduled for February 26-27, 2010. She <br />asked the Board to review the agenda and contact the County Manager if there <br />are any questions or revisions to the agenda. Based on last year's agenda, <br />she proposed starting the meeting around 4 p.m. on February 26th, and at 9 <br />a.m. on Saturday, February 27th.
