Sales Tax Refunds - Support legislation to allow public schools systems <br />to regain access to sales tax refunds. <br />(H) APPOINTMENTS <br />(H -1) Appointments - Food Policy Council <br />In April, the Board adopted a resolution establishing the Food Policy <br />Council. Applications are being solicited through a number of media outlets <br />and a small number of applications have been received thus far. It is <br />important that appointments to the Council be made quickly since there is <br />much work to be done. <br />Chairman White suggested the Board review the list of recommended <br />appointees provided in the handout. <br />John Day, County Manager, advised the handout includes recommendations <br />from him and the Chairman for the 21 positions including two (2) alternate <br />positions. He stated the applicants cover a wide range of professions <br />including the general public and gives an excellent representation for this <br />council. He requested he be given administrative authority to set the terms <br />in order to stagger them. <br />Commissioner Carruth requested this item be tabled until the May 25 <br />budget workshop to give the Board more time to review the applications. <br />Chairman White expressed appreciation to everyone that submitted an <br />application and commented on the difficulty in selecting 21 potential <br />appointees from the applicant pool. <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board voted to table the appointments to the <br />Food Policy Council until the May 25, 2010 budget workshop. <br />(I) REPORTS <br />(I -1) Tourism Authority - Report on Cabarrus County Tourism Authority's 3=d <br />Quarter 2009/2010 Activities <br />The Board received the report on Cabarrus County Tourism Authority's 3rd <br />Quarter 2009/2010 Activities as part of the Agenda. No action was required <br />of the Board. <br />Chairman White advised at the last CVB meeting there was a unanimous <br />vote to expand the board to twelve members. <br />(I -2) Request for Applications for County Boards /Committees <br />Chairman White urged citizens to consider serving on a County board or <br />committee.
