June 21, 2010 (Regular Meeting) Page 4 <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carruth, seconded by Vice Chairman Poole <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following ordinance: <br />Ordinance No. 2010 -05 <br />Ordinance Amending <br />CABARRUS COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br />Chapter 14, Article II - Section 14 -30 <br />Permits and Inspections <br />BE IT ORDAINED that Chapter 14, Article II - Section 14 -30, of the Code of <br />Ordinances, Cabarrus County, North Carolina, is hereby amended as follows: <br />ARTICLE II. <br />PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS <br />Sec. 14 -30 Additional Permit Restrictions <br />Delete the following from Additional Permit Restrictions (Item D): <br />Testing of unlicensed applicant for work on personal residence. Whenever any <br />person who is not a licensed contractor applies for a permit for any <br />plumbing, electrical, heating or cooling work on his own personal residence, <br />the applicant shall be given a test by a tester designated by the public <br />safety services department. The test may be written or oral at the discretion <br />of the tester. A person may take the test more than one time. If the test <br />shows that the person is capable of performing the work for which the permit <br />is sought and shows that the applicant is knowledgeable of the state and <br />local building codes, the application will be considered in the same manner <br />as any other application for a building permit. <br />Adopted this the 21 day of June, 2010 by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />/s/ H. Currently, some jobs may be calculated two <br />different ways resulting in different fee calculations. <br />CABARRUS COUNTY CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS <br />FEE SCHEDULES <br />EFFECTIVE JULY 26, 2004 <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners adopted a 3% Technology Fee <br />Effective Julv 1. 2007 <br />These Schedules have been adjusted to reflect this fee. <br />SCHEDULE A - NEW CONSTRUCTION <br />General <br />Value of Construction Permit Fee <br />$ 0 - $15,000 $ 77.25 <br />15,001 - 25,000 116.39 <br />25,001 - 40,000 181.28 <br />40,001 - 50,000 224.54 <br />Estimated construction cost above $50,000 will be charged an additional <br />$3.00 per additional $1,000.00 building value, plus 3% Technology Fee. <br />*Estimated cost for residential construction will be based on the total <br />cost of construction or $55.00 per square foot of heated space and <br />$25.00 per square foot of unheated space whichever is greater. A <br />$10.00 surcharge will be added to these permits as required by the <br />"Homeowners Recovery Fund ". <br />
